people smoke alot still in japan... but in the last few years, the smoking has gone down i think... alot of people I know that used to smoke have stopped... most of my family in japan were heavy smokers and most of them have stopped now...

I'm actually pretty neutral on the smoking issue(I don't smoke, but I dont hate people for smoking. alot of my friends still smoke) I think overall it's probably better NOT to smoke, but i know that smokers won't stop unless they want to quit... so I usually don't bring anything up with them. :shakehead:

Have y'all seen the recent Utaban? So funny. Love when Nakai interacts with his kohais. Also, when Ishibashi goes overboard with the shock machine. Kinda OT: Why are there 6 members in News now? I know one quit early on...but there were 2 more, right? Were they kicked out? So there's 6 in News and 7 in K8? Going back to an earlier subject about J-idols not being very attractive: I think News is the most all-around kawaii of the younger batch of Johnny's. Also, more than 6 members for a Johnny's group just seems really strange to me. I remember thinking it was weird for SMAP to have been a 6 member group.

Yup, I also think NEWS is the most all-around kawaii of the younger Johnny's group though I'm not a fan, but that's also their limitations. Not all of them can sing live well, and being kawaii means you can't venture more into adventurous stuff like rock, comedy, skits, TV-hosting, or being edgy or sexy like K8 (or KT to some extent)...Maybe when they're older...

One or two members of NEWS got in trouble last year for drinking... or more so for getting caught for drinking if i remember correctly. so they are back now but demoted and not official members apparently.... :crazy: I believe one of those members was/is in KJ8 too...

As for the number of people in Johnnys groups... Hikaru Genji had 7. Tokio for a very short while had 6 too... 5 seems to be a good number for them though(Smap, Tokio, Arashi). However there are good groups like KJ8 and NEWS that have more still...

I know what you mean. They're so cute...probably a big hit with the pre-teen/early teenage girl population. But being permanently baby-faced is a setback when entering adulthood. Their fan base will outgrow them fast enough...good thing most of them are attending college :hehe:

I remember when Hikaru Genji was in their prime...It just freaked me out that there were so many members especially since right before them trios were really popular. Didn't Ninja have a bunch of people too?...or am I getting them confused with Hikaru Genji. I do know Hikaru Genji tried to change it up by cutting down their members to 5 before they disbanded.

But it's a must in my book! I outgrew SMAP's singing a long time ago, so I'm used to the 'not singing live well' kinda thing with them. I'm not that fond of half of their songs either, but their sound is distinctively SMAP and no other Johnny's sound like them, which I love the most about SMAP. And I have to 'blame' SMAP for this, but over the years I've grown to love true entertainers like SMAP, and also grew to love true artistes too, like Mr.Children, B'z and GLAY...Like I've said before, one thing that attracted me to K8 is the fact that they're true entertainers on stage very much like SMAP, fun to be around like in their TV shows, and the plus point is that they're real artistes who sing well live, give great, energetic performances and actually play their own distinct, weird yet good music. Most of us eighters even think that they don't belong to JE because of how un-JE-like they are...

Now that I said that, I think I'm not much a JE fangirl in general after all, for the fact that I don't fancy KT, NEWS, or T&T that much, though I kinda like TOKIO & V6 as idols and KinKi Kids as artistes...

So do i lol. I never really liked them that much... they were indeed... not very good singers :sweat: even though I liked some of their songs. Ninja did have alot of people too... i think 6 or so. I can't remember though because they ...are like barely ever mentioned anymore lol.

I can relate somewhat on this. Because I sing myself... and I've learned alot more about singing over the years, I got a bit frustrated with smap at times because... well, their singing basically never got better. Tsuyoshi got a lil better... but it seems that there isn't going to be much more improvement. BUT I still absolutely love them as overall entertainers. They are amazing actors, comedians, and just in general... entertainers. However, I still do love some of their songs. Alot of their songs got me through some hard times when I was younger so I'll never forget that. And their are some newer songs that I absolutely love like "dawn". I just... wish they would grow a lil more vocally, but I dunno if that'll happen ever.

I'm basically clueless about all of the new johnnys groups(basically everyone below v6). I know a lil now because I needed to do some research for work i'm doing now... but overall i'm still pretty clueless. I do know the members of KJ8 though and Tackey and Tsubasa because they were all Juniors when... I actually knew who some of the juniors were ^^;.

I think musically, out of the Johnnys artists, I prefer tokio now(i'm not saying who's best, i'm just saying out of their songs and vocals overall, tokio is currently my fave). Their stuff is still pop, but listening to their stuff from when they first came out and stuff that they have out now... I can totally tell a difference. With all of the members, not just the vocalist Nagase. I also am enjoying their dramas and comedy stuff too. I have the highest respect for Smap and Tokio out of the johnnys groups because seriously, neither group had much expected for them when they first came out but yet they're still around and doing amazing in most of the things they do.

I actually do like Kinki Kids too, just... musically I haven't heard their stuff since their B album. That's because for a time, I lost most interest in Jpop overall. I just somewhat kept up with smap for that time. I just recently got back into everything and am playing catch up when I have the money.

I'm going to eventually look into KJ8 too because honestly I remember how much I enjoyed watching Subaru and some other KJ8 members when they were younger.

But yeah... I'm done rambling now. I have to work in less than 4 hours so I better go to bed for now :sweat:
