Don't worry, you're not alone. It's a good thing I have my own place & the same scenario happened with me, crying my heart out over a drama, :shamefulcry: which just shows Takuya is really so convincing when he plays a role. :applaud:
On the turn of events in the drama, I share the same feeling, life is not to be wasted. Whatever problem may come, a problem today is no longer a problem tomorrow - meaning it has way of sorting itself out but the storyline says otherwise.
Spoiler ahead.
My own analogy, I think the most hurting for Teppei is to learn from his own father telling him that he (Daisuke) wished that Teppei has not been born. It is so hurting right to the heart for him to hear that from his own biological dad, as if he has not done anything good to earn his dad's love.
And that's what kept reverberating in his mind- like other people might hurt you, be it acquaintance, friend, or relative but to hear it from your own folks who brought you to this world is tantamount to knowing that you're worthless and what option to take but to be gone on this face of the earth as what Teppei did.
On hindsight, I prayed a silent prayer (after watching Karei naru Ichizoku) to grant Takuya a longer life, hoping that whatever oppressions or problems he may face, that he takes it in stride and never result to harakiri.
And one thing that hit me, I kept this drama right after watching & I dunno if I can bear re-watching it like Long Vacation, Pride, etc. to experience again the bucketloads of tears - I guess I have to muster enough strength & be prepared again for the heart-wrenching scenes(
which by the way are the very same scenes you've mentioned). Looks like Takuya touched SMAPPIES' hearts on the same ground.
