Ah, these girls seem to forget Arashi. No, KAT-TUN wouldn't have it easy, not with all the internal conflicts n jealousy within the group. Yes, their rise is meteoric, but so was Arashi. Yes, the girls are talking about KT now, but when Arashi debuted in 1999, everybody is talking about Arashi, and at that moment, everybody said that Arashi is the next SMAP, which has proven to be wrong. KT still has to contend with Arashi, and then there's Yamapi's solo effort, while Kanjani8 is JE's next big thing.

That leaves SMAP as the ultimate band, isn't it?

In Hontou ni Atta Kowai Hanashi Summer SP 2006 (Aug 22nd), Goro once again host the show with the kids, and this time...the female comedian trio, Morisanchuu, co-host with him.

Something Goro said that intrigued me very much^^

One of the horror story tells about a highschool girl student is being pulled by a ghost. But then, her bestfriend tried her best to pull her back to the real world.

So, the topic they talked after is... Friendship.

One of the host kid asked Goro, "Goro-san, will you help your friend from a ghost?".
Goro laugh, "I don't think I will help," LOL!! He's kidding, I'm sure... xD

Just giving my 2 cents...

Have we ever heard SMAP being compared to another group? "SMAP is the Next Hikaru Genji!!", "SMAP will be the successor of Shonentai!", or anything else maybe?? I've never heard of it. Elaine, you've been in the fandom for 10 years, twice longer than me...have you ever heard? Oh...maybe...! The Rolling Stones?? Haha...! I've heard some compared SMAP with Rolling Stones^^

With this, I feel kawaii sou to SMAP juniors...

Takizawa Hideaki....Matsumoto Jun....and now, Kamenashi Kazuya.... all had this title once, "The Next Kimura Takuya".

Doesn't this burden them? Giving them pressure? Being in the entertainment world, with their seniors comparison shadowing them?

Kat-tun is The Next SMAP. I wonder how they feel being labeled like that? Does Kat-tun fans like this label? Kat-tun themselves might not like the label, afterall....they want to be recognized as Kat-tun, desho?

Reporters should stop doing that, I think.


And, IMHO:
As long as they're still being compared with SMAP...then, they have not yet surpass SMAP.




And another thing... Its just something that I admire from Kimura Takuya as a member of SMAP. He IS the most popular one among other SMAP members. We cannot deny that. However, whenever he's IN the group...he never stood out from the rest...he blends in with the group and does not take the others' spotlights. And this HAPPENS NATURALLY....they don't have to push themselves too hard to blend with each other. It just...happens....

And with Kimura Takuya's popularity shooting high especially at the beginning when he almost overshadow the other members. It does not make the other members losing their confidence at all. They worked, worked, worked...with alot of patience...and believe in themselves, they can achieve something differently than Kimura that will make them earn their own spotlight.

The other 4 should be credited for being the only TALENTS that can put themselves on the same league with Kimura.... And, somehow on par with him in many fields and aspects. They never lose their spotlights and for some times they can even overshadow Kimura...when their shine is on the max^^

Not just SMAP themselves.... But, SMAP is coincidentally blessed with EXCELLENT management team and staffs. They were blessed with good timings, either. It is such a rare gift to have all in one at a time. But, that's.... SMAP....

When KAT-TUN have achieve this level...I'll take my hats off to them^^ I have nothing more to say ^_^ As for the moment, I can only see this: KAT-TUN = Kame & Jin.

All of them look great right? (The picture for my signature). When I tink of the pp scold them rubbish, I really felt for them (SMAP) all. I have heard b4 that says SMAP had oredi beat Hikaru Genji & Shonentai, but I dunno whether itz true or not, as I dun know bout the two groups, dunno how success they are in the 80's, just know that they have a BIG success that time, but they suddenly disappear at the beginning of 90's, they disband after 12 years, huh? Wondering y they wanna do that...

But SMAP is still at the top of the idol groups now, after 18 years they have formed, and 15 years of debut, maybe thatz the reason y they say SMAP had oredi surpass them?? I dun know, as I really dun wanna compare SMAP with the others, and I hate ppl saying wanna be the next SMAP too. SMAP is SMAP, the others are the others, each of them have their own good... Yeah, Kimura is the most popular one in SMAP, remember a time in 1998, interview by a magazine, he says: The closest friend (of course he is mentioning about SMAP) is the most difficult to challenge, however, we din think to challenge each other, all we do is only learn from each other, like Nakai, very good in hosting, I m really proud of him, he can talk whatever in a program. And I hope that I can also be like him also, but I know I cant...

I honestly don't know much about these Johnny Jrs...(I was into Tokio for a bit though), but as been pointed out here, trying to hail them as the next SMAP is a lot of pressure. SMAP has been around for a long time for good reason. They are all talented in their own ways, they all have distinct personalties and distinct looks (even when they all were molded to look the same, they still had distinct personalities it seems to me) that shape the group as a whole. Their relationships with each other, how they perform together in various arenas shows the group as a whole. There is friendship, competition, love, respect, teasing etc...

Maybe Kat-Tun or whoever may one day be the "next SMAP" or someone may be the "next Takuya Kimura". The thing is that it will take years for us to know because SMAP has been around and on top for awhile. Takuya has been on top for awhile. Trying to compare someone out the gate is impossible IMO. Only time will tell.

Ya, Goro looks so thin in the first 3 album, and his hair is so curly, I think Kimura has not change anything from their first album till now, he has his own taste. That makes me miss bout Mori-kun... :beaten: :puppydog:

yea! i agree! each and everyone of them have their special talent and takuya doesnt seem to overshadow any of his members when they appear as a group ( eventhough he is the top idol in japan now)
and i kinda dislike kat-tun i feel that all this johnny jr have too much inner conflict amongst themselves. yamapi seems to be the only one popular in NEWs.. =P and in kat-tun only Kamenashi Kazuya seems to be the only one popular... errr... i kinda like arashi though..
regardless of whether all these juniors will be more popular in the future.. i believe that SMAP will always be the best.. (though i hope that their popularity will remain forever =)

Yes, Elaine! I think I've once read somewhere Kimura praised Nakai alot too. He said: Nakai is a wonderful Leader. He cares alot about SMAP and pay attention to details for SMAP. He's a fan of SMAP. I can never be like that. As much as I care abt SMAP, but I can never care abt SMAP as much as Nakai's care.

I kept wondering...how in the hell, can those reporters spread rumours about Nakai and Kimura are NOT in good terms :grumble:

In SmaSTATION I recently watched, moved me. Shingo praised Kimura what an actor he has become...with 2046 release. Shingo said, "I was in my home, eating pancakes, then on TV, the Cannes coverage is on, I see Kimura-kun with the other 2046 casts like Tony Leung and Carina Lau... Then, I thought, "Oh no...Kimura-kun is getting futher and further away from me..." ". Shingo said it with a VERY innocent face and cho kawaii!! haha! He said again, "Kimura-kun is in Cannes...why am I still here??".

Then Shingo asked him, "How do u feel when you read a title something like, 'KIMURA, THE ACTOR'...?".

Kimura didn't really answer that, instead he said, "I'm not on my own, y'know. IF we are a band...I might be only the one who's playing the guitar or holding the mic. I can't really perform without the rest of the members. I mean... I can never be who I am now...if there are no Nakai Masahiro, Katori Shingo, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi and Inagaki Goro. We have our own roles in the team. Without these five...there will be no individual of us in the entertainment world,".

hide_hikaru_minako, I like Arashi too^^ Although Ohno and Aiba still lacks of individual works...but its only a matter of time until they catch up with the rest. It needs time. I see potential of integrity in Arashi^^

I wish this whole kattun is the new smap discussion would stop. Like a band could ever be the same as another!
I dunno much about kattun, but all I can say is that kattun is very strong now in japan, but smap and kattun have a very VERY different history, like smap had to work really hard to become what they are today *I've read some reports and discussions about that kattun/smap topic before*

Now, we have Kat-Tun fans here....arigatou ne for joining us here. But dont think weird about our discussion. Its about Kat-Tun and SMAP...when you read all our posting, maybe you think that we compare SMAP and Kat-Tun (looks like it!) but if you think about it again, you know that we never want to compare the group. We just wanna give our opinion and discuss what media in Japan talk about it. I've finish watching Kat-Tun DVD and I've also have go to their concert last year :mrgreen: For me, Kat-Tun and SMAP is a different, very different group. SMAP have been a group more than 10 years. They already having many many trouble together, taking risk and challenge as SMAP everyday. Many things we have been heard about them in their long journey, including things that I think will decrease their popularity, not only popularity but also make them 'lost' from J-pop world. But they can face through it, and still can standing as one of the best group in Japan. I think they will not be like that if their relationship is like the other group. Relationship is the main important thing that make they still together until today. And this is the main reason, the main criteria that other group can't challenge it. Kat-Tun, is the best junior group for me. They all have their own talent, they all can sing, dance, act..... they have full package for being as a group that for sure all the girls will scream and fainted when they appears in front of them. Their journey is just started and I hope they will stay together as a group and maintain it.




BTW, for SMAP.......I know every girls will said Takuya is their first choice in all SMAP members. Not only girls, I think married woman will say it too. Takuya have a full package, he is handsome, sometimes cute, sexy, tall, sweet smile, suit with everything he wear, act more than anyone expected..everything is inside him and I think all that thing makes he become a dream boy for almost ten years. But I think he is not good enough in hosting and handling fans, and he admit it. This thing is only for Nakai...Nakai is very very good in talking and hosting. Just like Takuya said, he can talk everything even he is not in a very good mood or not very well. And he also the best dancer in SMAP. I can't believe the "smallest" guy in SMAP can dance like that. But he is not very good as a singer. I think that one is for Goro. Goro should have it, since he is very polite person in SMAP. They all have their own talent, and that makes them as a SMAP. Its weird for me if all the person in group can only sing and dance. Not really perfect......but SMAP is perfect, absolutely perfect for me.

He also doesn't go to high class restaurants and even on Kurobara, he said that he would use canned eel sauce for his rice, or other condiments to eat plainly with rice.

It is?? I remembered I once watched SxS special, Nakai mentioned that he drived a very old model kind of car (is it a old model of sport car)?..He said that he didn't want to get a new car cos he still can drive this old car of his. Can see that he is a person who don't anyhow spend his money...Hopefully this won't cause a breakup with his gf.

Yesterday I watched Nakai's drama "Saigo no koi", I wanted to watched only 1 episode but in the end I got hooked to this drama...V v nice...Nakai so cute n kind hearted...In the end I watched 3 episode instead...

If the news is true, then I dare say that his gf is materialistik :crazy: She doens't have to clash with him just because Nakai is simple and commoner guy. I love the person like that, even he is famous and rich, he still want to continue as a normal person. But ehhh.....is it true he have broke up with his gf? SMAPxELAINE told me too that they have broke up 2 years ago....

Nakai is a doctor in this drama and Tokiwa Takako played a girl who lived only with her younger brother. Her younger brother is sick and need a huge amt of money for operation then she was forced to sell her own body in order to make money for the operation. Nakai knew abt it and asked her to stop doing it. The 2 of them fell in love with each other...I tink Tokiwa Takako died in the end...cos of AIDS (I heard from my frds who watched this drama). Tonight after my work i going to continue the drama again...heehee
