I'm currently watching a drama titled Gakkou e Ikou! (Let's Go To School!), a drama originally broadcasted on FujiTV, April-June 1991.

Everytime I watch a gakuen dorama (school drama) with Johnny's boys starring, like KATTUN members in Gokusen 2, or Yamapi in Dragonzakura, or
MatsuJun in Gokusen 1 and HanaDan, or Nino & Yamapi in StandUP!... I kept thinking, "Ahh...I want to see SMAP members acting in these kind of school drama, naa~~!!! Acting as the students like the young Johnny's boys does now!

I was soooo happy when I found out about Gakkou e Ikou dorama, coz it's a highschool type drama like Gokusen or GTO drama, and it has SMAP members starring in it^^ Nakai-kun and Goro-chan!!

After 2-3 years of searching, I've finally found this drama and now watching it up to Episode 4. IF ONLY, I can upload big-sized files, I sooo want to share this drama with you all. Because it's GOOOOD!!!^.^ Too bad I don't have a fast connection :(

So, I'm sorry...that for now, I can only share synopsis and screencaps. And this is my contribution to push this thread nearer to our 500 pages-target...heheh....

Gakkou e Ikou was a FujiTV getsuku 12-episodes dorama in Spring 1991. Getsuku stands for getsuyobi kuu-ji which means Monday, 9PM. And that means = PRIMETIME slot. All Kimura's FujiTV dramas had always been a getsuku since Long Vacation. During that year 1991, the winter getsuku was Tokyo Love Story. And the summer getsuku was 101st Proposal. So Gakkou e Ikou is somewhat considered on par with these two hit dramas.

The average rating of Gakkou e Ikou was 17.3%. And the highest rating it had was 21.6%. Though, the numbers are lower than the 2 hit dramas in 1991. But no doubt, Gakkou e Ikou was a popular drama during that year. One of the pioneer for highschool dramas like GTO or Gokusen!

Content-wise, Gakkou e Ikou is more realistic than GTO or Gokusen, with a touch of comedy also. In fact, I can say, this is a hillarious drama. Yet, the plot is realistic and not exagerrated. The drama doesn't start with the typical "new teacher is transferred to the school and start to get to know the students". But the leading character, the teacher has already teach in that school for some time, and Episode 1 started with her ordinary everyday morning.

The main character is a female teacher, Usui Sachi, 31 years old and single, acted by Asano Yuko. Just an ordinary teacher with a normal background.... No, she was not the ex-leader of a motorcycle gang. Or, the granddaughter of a yakuza family leader :hehe: She's just an ordinary teacher.
She's the COOL type of teacher. The kind of teacher that students get along with. She has a funny character. She can be feminine, sweet and girlie. But she can also be manly-tough and fierce, though I'm not sure whether or not she can fight like Yankumi^^
She lets all the students calls her simply SACHI. She makes everything easier for the students. And if there are students being cynical to her or make fun of her, she just calmly make fun of them back in a cynical way.
Sachi herself is somehow a problematic teacher. Everything she does seems wrong in the eyes of the school's principal and vice principal. She is often called by these 2 old men, to warn about things she done that might can harm the students. Sachi hates them^^

The main student characters... I think there are 6 of 'em. 3 boys and 3 girls. Of course, 2 of the 3 boys are our beloved Nakai-kun and Goro-chan!!^^ All of them are in third-grade. Class 3A. With Sachi as the form teacher of the class.

Nakai is Katsu, the happy-go-lucky type of boy, reading porn magazines in class, the most urusai(noisy) student, and he always makes fun of his friends. His spotlight comes in the first and the last episode, if I'm not mistaken. So, maybe we can say, he is the MAIN student of this drama^^

Goro is Toru, the introvert type of student. The quiet and shy type. Most of the time, he's unable to express his feelings or what he wants. He joins the basketball team, but famous as the least person who has talent in basketball. He likes basketball, but he just seems not doing good at it, most of the time, it's almost as if he tend to give the ball to the opponent team x)

Another student, played by Hagiwara Masato, is Arashi. He's the STAR and captain of the basketball team.

Ai played by Katajima Mai, is the most cynical female student in class, and she has a VERY GOOD english. Everytime Sachi teaches English in class, she always corrects her and embarrassed her.

Mai, she is Ai's bestfriend. But also, Toru's childhood friend. And thanks to Katsu, rumours spread that Toru is in love with Mai^^ However, Mai had a crush on Arashi.

Mie, is Ai and Mai's bestfriend. The three of them are always together. Mi is a cute girl with glasses. But I haven't get to the episode where she is the focus. So not much I can say about her yet. But from Episode 4, I'm guessing she's gonna be romantically involved with Nakai's Katsu^^

Although the 3 girls are bestfriends, the 3 boys have their own group of friends. Katsu with the noisy group of boys(yappari, yankee^^). Arashi with the basketball team. Toru with...hmm...he doesn't really have bestfriends?? xD
But, I find it interesting that although they're not really bestfriends, Katsu and Toru are often seen together...like when their class went on a vacation together... they both tend to stand or sit side by side. Haha....SMAP members, dakara...?

Besides the six of them, there's also the basketball team's manager, Saya played by Ishiki Sae. She's a first-grader and has a crush on Arashi, the captain. She's very cute!

Done with Introduction, I'll continue with synopsis per episode!^_^ DO NOT read if you are going to watch this drama and you don't want to read any spoiler.


Episode 1
An introduction of the characters in the beginning. Usui Sachi is a female teacher in Inogashira High School. She's 31 and single. Sachi(Asano Yuko) go through her daily morning. Students are greeting her 'ohayo gozaimasu'. The 3 girls: Ai, Mai and Mi greet Sachi and commented, "Sacchi!! You're over 30 now! You should start thinking of marriage and retired from this school!".
Sachi's bestfriend is Eri(Takagi Miho), also a teacher in the same school. Just like Sachi, Eri is also 31 and single. Though they hang out alot, they never want to admit that they ARE bestfriends^^

There's a new male PE/sport teacher, Inamura Soichiro(Kase Taisho), 23 years old, just transferred to the school. A handsome young man, polite, nice, very kind type of man. He is already the most popular guy in school, by the end of the day. Female students and female teachers, including Sachi, are all head over heels for him.

In this pilot episode also, Sachi meets again her longtime highschool classmate, Anzai Hiroi(Fuse Hiroshi), and she calls him, Romeo. Because they played the roles as Romeo and Juliet on the school's festival before. Romeo is still aiming for his goal, that is to be an actor. But he can't find a place in Tokyo yet, so he beg Sachi to let him stay at her apartement just for one night.
The first problematic student is Katsu(Nakai Masahiro). We don't get to see him until the 20th minute...because he's not coming to school for a few days. Sachi begin to wonder on what happen to him.
One night, Sachi see him in front of a drinking bar. Katsu try to escape from her, but she managed to catch him. Later, she find out Katsu is in debt with the bar's owner, so he has to work there.
The next night, Sachi ask Inamura and Romeo's help to get Katsu back. The bar's owner then, told them that Katsu is in debt, coz he lost in the mahjong game, so if they want Katsu released, they have to win money with mahjong again.

Sachi take the offer and is very confident that she'll win the game. However....she lost. The bar's owner said, "Too bad. Pay back with your body, then...".
Eventually, Sachi has to work in the bar too, and accompany the middle-aged male customers to drink. While, Inamura and Romeo work as waiters, like Katsu^^
Things worsened when 2 teachers from Inogashira High School enter the bar. Katsu, Inamura-sensei and Sachi are trying to hide themselves and exit the bar. But they're finally seen by those teachers. The next morning, as expected, Sachi gets "words" from the principal.
Finally, Sachi help Katsu to pay the debts and tell him to come to school again. But Katsu is in doubts. He's not sure what he goes to school for...
However, the next morning...Katsu comes to school^^


Episode 2
After Nakai's Katsu, the 2nd episode focus on Goro's Toru! The opening scene is Sachi teaching English in class. The 3 girls: Ai, Mai and Mi are talking. Sachi point Mai to answer the question. Toru(Inagaki Goro) who sit beside her, help her and give her notes. Sachi warn him not to help her. Katsu(Nakai) lift his hand and stand up, "Sachi!! I think Toru is in love with Mai!!!". The class gets noisy and tease them. Mai denied that although they are childhood friends, but she can't even imagine being romantically involved with Toru at all. Sachi can see Toru looked hurt. Mai and Katsu bicker, and Mai end up chasing Katsu around the class, making mess and even hit Toru^^
Later, Mai ask Toru's help to tell Arashi about her feelings to Arashi. Being a good friend, he did what she asked him. But Arashi told Toru, he's not interested in dating girls, he just want to focus on basket...moreover, he doesn't like coquettish girl-type like Mai.
Arashi said to Toru, "Who are you to Mai, actually?? If you have free time to do this, you better use it for rehearsing with us!! Why do you suddenly quit??".

Other than his love problem, Toru also had a confidence crisis in basketball. He's quitting the team, his reason is because he should start to focus on studying coz the final exams are coming, but Sachi don't think that's the real reason.
Sachi knows very well that Toru likes basketball alot. She scold Toru, "Why do you give up what you like so easy?? Basketball, and also Mai-chan? Don't give up things so easily!".
By the end of the episode, Toru finally gain his confidence in basket and love. He's back to the team. And he successfully tell Mai his feelings, "Although I might be only a childhood friend to you, but I've always liked you from the beginning! When we were a first-grader in the elementary school, I've already liked you!". Too bad...Mai's response is looking down and say, "Gomen nasai!!". Poor Toru... But he did it already, and Sachi is very proud of him.

Episode 3
This episode focus on Arashi and the basketball team. Beside being a form teacher for class 3A, Sachi is also the teacher responsible for the basketball team.
Arashi had disagreement with the whole team and they ended up arguing. At the end one of them said, "I want Arashi out of the team! If not, we're out!". Arashi refuse, he just wants the team to win the next game.

Sachi is confused. Not to mention, she just got warning from the principal who initially told her to rest the basketball team, because the third-grader should prepare themselves for the final exams. But Sachi is sure the students knows how to divide their time between study and basket. They made a bet, if the team loses in the next game, then Sachi should dismiss the basketball team.
Sachi try to persuave the other members to go to rehearsal and to forgive Arashi. But they all refuse. Finally Sachi made a decision and asked Arashi to leave the team. Arashi was furious and asked her why. She answered reluctantly, "Because basketball won't work with only one person. That's all...".
Inamura try to find the furious Arashi and try to talk to him. Ask him to understand the situation and Sachi's decision. On the street, they also meet Romeo, who is currently filming a drama as an extra. He ask Arashi and Inamura to join him as extras too.
Then, Romeo told Arashi, "You must feel stupid being an extra, huh? But a drama is not all about the leading character, y'know. Don't you think it's the same with basketball? You can't always get things the way you want,".
Arashi comes to the game and watch his team. The whole team is playing, except Toru, the backup member, who will only play if someone gets injured or can't continue playing. Arashi sit beside Toru. Halfway through, Toru told Arashi, "Now you know how one feel, to be able to just sit on the side bench watching the team struggle in the game, although you want to join them so much, huh? Everytime I'm always like this, sitting on the bench watching you and the team playing...and sometimes I like to imagine, that I will be called to play in the last minutes, and I'll score winning points and save the team... Heh, it's stupid, I know..."

During the last minutes, Arashi stand up and told the team, the opponent's weakness and tell them to be careful. Finally the team tell him to join them. Arashi feels really grateful.
At the very last second, Arashi was tackled and injured his leg. He suppose to execute the penalty shoot...but he said, he can't do it. "Let Toru do the penalty!!" he said.
Toru is in awe, and tell the others, it's better not him, "Do you guys want to lose?? We're behind 1 point,". But everyone including Sachi have faith in Toru.
And...Toru did it!!! He saved the team! They won the game!^_^


Episode 4
The opening scene is Eri, Sachi's bestfriend, find a student's prank work. They draw a love diagram between the teachers. Sachi, Eri, the young female teacher, Wakai loves Inamura. Sakai, the chemistry teacher loves Eri. And Sugami, the son of the board chairman-teacher, loves Sachi. They wonder who Inamura-sensei loves?
This episode is about class vacation trip!! However, the principal wants to change the annual tradition into a class STUDY trip. So, they visit the historical places and have to study at the inn.
All the students complain to Sachi about this and demand her to do something about it. Luckily, the principal injured his leg, so he can't come together with them. Sachi and the students went very excited. But there's still Sakai and Sugami who try to follow all of the principal's order and instruction.
Meanwhile, Katsu tell Toru, to bring Mai to see the lovely view at night. And giving him advice all the romantic words and how to try to kiss the girl^^

Finally, Sachi decided she has to come up with a plan to let the students free for 1 night. She planned it together with Eri, Inamura and Romeo, who happened to be nearby coz he's filming a samurai drama in the historical place^^
So, Sachi try to make Sugami-sensei busy. While, Inamura try to make Wakai busy. And Eri try to make Sakai-sensei drink sake. After they suceed to make them off-guard, Sachi told the students to go outside, and remember to be back by room-check time.

Sachi keep trying to divert Sugami's mind on the students. Once he tried to check the hall where the students are in. Sachi tried to block him. But turn out, Ai come out from the hall and told them to be quiet, because they are studying. He was convinced and Sachi bring him outside. Before that, Sachi asked Ai, "You're not going?". Ai said, she like to stay.
Ai talked to Inamura and told him, she's in love with him. But Inamura said, he likes her as a student. Ai asked him, "Why can't you see me as a woman? My age is nearer to you! But you can see Sachi as a woman? Even though she's 8 years older than you??". The atmosphere becomes awkward.
Meanwhile outside, Toru is trying to make a move with Mai, but always failed^^ Mi is trying to bother them, but Katsu pull her, "We better walk together....you like me, right??". He got slapped by Mi^^ Coincidentally, Sachi and Sugami are nearby. Sachi try to divert his attention so Katsu, Toru, Mai and Mi can escape from the place.
It's room-check time, and Sugami runs off to the train, to get back to the inn to check on the students. Sachi was left behind and that was the last train. Sachi can't go back!
All the students managed to return to the inn, in time. And when they were checked, they were all in their rooms already.
Meanwhile, Inamura is worried, "Where is Usui-sensei??". Apparently, Sachi got lost in the dark street...and she screamed, "Tasuketeeee~~~ (help)". To be continued....^^


From the first 4 episodes, I LOVED this drama!!! There are suppose to be more episodes focus on Nakai and Goro's characters, am looking forward to that^^
I love Sachi and the teachers, and also Romeo too! They are hillarious!! And I can't really predict which guy who will be Sachi's main love interest: Romeo or Inamura-sensei. Though, it's obvious that Sachi had a crush on Inamura, but she also has a certain chemistry with Romeo...though she keeps saying they are only friends. It seems, Eri begin to fall for Romeo. And it seems, Inamura-sensei begin to fall for Sachi, coz he admire her way of handling the students' problems.
The principal is really hillarious!!^^ Sometimes, he use these jidaigeki(samurai)/way-too-formal language to scold and warn Sacchi! lol! And it's really funny how Sachi and Eri can already memorize what the principal is gonna say, and they mimick him from behind.

If ONLY this drama available for download, I definitely recommend this one to every JDrama fan!!^^ Will be posting more synopsis of the rest of the episodes!

Oh, yes. Watching Ishiki Sae in Gakkou e Ikou, it reminds me of her other highschool drama with Kimura!!^^

The drama is titled Stolen Heart or Sono Toki, Haato wa Nusumareta. Broadcasted on FujiTV, Nov-Dec 1992, 5 episodes. About a friendship between 2 girls and a boy. Hiroko(Ishiki Sae) has a crush on Katase(Kimura Takuya), who is two years her senior at school. But Katase seems to be close with Saki(Uchida Yuki).

I looove Katase!!! At first...I was quite shocked with Kimura's hairstyle in this dorama...haha, so ugly!!^^ But, I got used to it later...and maybe b'coz I looooooove his character here so much!!
Katase is only a normal boy, not too cool and not too sweet. But, what made me loooove him so much, is because he is sooooo kind-hearted and soooo nice to girls!! Such a gentleman!
It's also very interesting to see Kimura being so young.

I like the first 2 eps!! The first scene is probably the most hillarious moment in this dorama! Hiroko and her friend were late, their classmates from the window's class on the 3rd floor told them to just throw the bag up and one of them will catch the bag. Hiroko's friend goes first, and someone successfully catch her bag on the 3rd floor. She told Hiroko to hurry throw her bag too, while Hiroko is quite nervous, coz Katase is also looking from the window of the 2nd floor together with his classmates. Katase also supporting her, saying, "Hayaku, hayaku(hurry)...". Hiroko then throw the bag up! Whaddyaknow...her bag landed right on Kimura's face, and he automatically falls back to the floor!!*LOL* Kimura in a comical scene!!!^O^ I also love Katase & Hiroko's date scenes which is arranged by her friend. Very funny!!^_^

I'm really rooting for Katase and Hiroko to get together!! Coz, they shared a good chemistry together and suits each other! Starting episode 3, as much as I love their sweet and fun scenes together, I can't help but dissapointed to know their closeness are only as friends =(
Overall, it's a so-so dorama for me. Enjoyed it, b'coz of Kimura's performance ^_~

Wah...Goro was so young then...
