Akashiya Sanma is such a lovable man! hahaha
no wonder i saw him and takuya in some clips in youtube before..
they got along very well.. hahaha
the most memorable one.. should be the clip where both of them pose as beyonce.. i couldnt stop laughing! hahahaha

do u have any idea how he knows Akashiya Sanma?
they know each other before a billion stars falling from the sky right?

Sanma is one of the biggest tv comedians in Japan. They probably became friends after doing a lot of shows together. There's a video of really young Smap on one of Sanma's shows at Smap for U. It's when Mori was still in the group. Goro isn't in the video though because he was filming a drama.
5 Dec 2006, 23:38 #11403
I used to think that Smap would hang out together during their free time, too. But then I figure they spent nearly the last 20 years working together. It's closer than friendship because when you think about how many hours a day they have to work on shows and rehearse for concerts, they spend more time around each other than their own family members.

Minako, I hope you receive my pm.

If you watch Sanma & Smap X'mas special, you'll know how perverted Sanma, Takuya and Nakai are!!!!! But Sanma, he keeps on calling Takuya "Kimutaku" on shows, even until now... :shakehead:

haha...but Takuya never correct him either, and he seems don't mind if its Sanma, who calls him like that. Shows Sanma is an exclusive friend xD

oh, and garnet...nope, I didn't like Kyumei Byoto either (I've only watched the 2nd season series, but its enough to have a big picture what's the 1st and the 3rd series like^^)...
Yappari, I can't stand medical dramas nee.... But I do enjoy one medical drama, though! It was Nurse no Oshigoto 2! ^0^ haha!
6 Dec 2006, 02:36 #11406
I can't talk much about Kyumei Byoto either, I've only seen the 3rd series, which I think is quite good.

Since I've post this on other place, I might as well post here(and move faster to page 600). J-Sport, an annual Johnny's Sport Day activities, Smap's last appearance was in 1996. I'm sure you've seen Smap playing sports many many time. But it's rare to see them play with their juniors... In 1996, they invited many famous athlets.

Smap playing baseball game against a famous baseball team.. Yes!!! Nakai's favourite baseball!!!

[image][image]
[image][image]
[image][image]

Goro is so cute here!!!

Then 4x100m relay race!!! There were 4 teams: Smap, KinKi Kids, Tokio, V6. In Smap team, they sent Nakai and Goro to compete (I was wondering why didn't they choose Tsuyoshi?) and the junior's repesentative for Smap team is Imai Tsubasa.

[image][image]

The chibi Tsubasa!!! he's so cute. I think he's always closer to Nakai, since he acted as Nakai's brother in the drama "Brothers". And those hilarious DoMiSo skits in Utaban. Smap's spirit!!!

[image][image]

Goro appeared on big screen before running. Don't you think he's so cute here?!! Shingo and Tsuyoshi giving support and Takuya said it's interesting since Goro will be running.

[image][image]
[image][image]

At first Goro ran in the first place but Yamaguchi(Tokio) cut him. So, Goro was in the secong place and at last Nakai finished the race at 3rd place.

[image][image]

The other members said it's ok and Takuya gave Goro a big hug!!! The winner was KinKi Kids team. They just need to win a 4x100m race to get 1 million yen?!! That's quite easy for them to earn money...

[image][image]

And lastly, Nakai looked so happy playing baseball!!!
[image][image]
[image][image]

I don't see much Shingo and Tsuyoshi in actions, but here on the bench Shingo kept hitting Tsuyoshi's head...

And while it isn't 100000000000% confirmed. It's the 5th of Dec for me and it's Takuya and Shizuka's anniversary today! Six years! I'm very happy for the both of them and I hope it goes on for another six and such on. But the woman needs to put out! I really wouldn't mind a baby boy coming from the two! ^_^;;; (Again, not confirmed of their actual anniversary date, but Kimura who announced his marrige to Kudo on Nov. 27th, said he would marry her in a weeks time. And Goro being Goro did say, they got married before his birthday and his birthday is in 3 days.) Actual Goro said along the lines that thankfully they did not marry on his birthday but before that. Goro. Always the bastard.

I was getting off work and called Kinokuinya to make sure Pop!Up is instock, since they always get their stuff in by the Japanese date and since it's the 6th alreday in Japan, I was told they would have it in today but to call to make sure. Well, I talked to this one lady, who got off focus and spent five minutes with me, talking to me about SMAP and who was my favorite and who I didn't like and the songs and blah, blah, blah. ~_~; She tells me, "Oh nooooooooo. Goro is so shady and mean, how can you like this type of man?" Blah. So anyway, she tells me they won't have Pop!Up until friday. O_O. I really want to die, so I ask to speak to this one lady, who's always good to me when it comes to SMAP. She said the dvds aren't selling like they use to; so to cut cost, instead of doing overnight shipping, it won't be in until friday and even then, they MIGHT not sell until Sun morning! WTF. I ask the price and she say's it'd be around 108.99. That's so much more than everywhere else online and I HAVE TO WAIT. And then she tells me, I'm getting the poster. So I shut the hell up and give her my love.

Japanese idol Takuya Kimura makes People magazine's list of international hunks. It took him long enough, but Japan's Sexiest Man Takuya Kimura has finally earned a stamp of approval in the US. US magazine People, well-known for its annual Sexiest Man Alive special issue, recently featured the Japanese actor-singer and style icon on its website as one of '10 International Males: Hot Around The Globe'.

Listed alongside British pop star Robbie Williams, French footballer Zinedine Zidane and Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, Takuya, 34, is described to American readers as the 'Japanese Mark Wahlberg'.

His appeal? How 'he can laugh at himself'. And the way he has 'poked fun at his heart-throb image' over the years is apparently sexy.

It is too early to tell if Hollywood fame will follow, but Takuya is definitely in his element these days. With three new projects - a fast-selling pictorial book, a critically-acclaimed samurai film in which he plays a blind warrior and a drama shot in Shanghai - he is set to hog headlines for weeks to come.

Last month, he was also voted Favourite Man by readers of Japanese fashion magazine An An - for the 13th consecutive year.

One Singaporean fan, who wanted to be known only as Audrey, e-mailed to The New Paper to rave about Takuya's People magazine mention. She wrote: 'We, the fans in Singapore and all over the world, are very delighted and very proud of him.'

But why did it take so long for Takuya to get noticed in the US, when he is easily one of the most famous Japanese heart-throbs in Asia?

Making his debut in 1988 as one-fifth of boy band Smap, he has risen to become Japan's top male actor with an unbeatable TV-ratings record. He is hailed as one of the most versatile leading men in Japan, tackling a variety of roles from romantic hero (Beautiful Life) to unorthodox lawyer (Hero) and revenge-seeking chef (One Hundred Million Stars Falling From The Sky).

HOLLYWOOD ROLE

But his only shot at Hollywood so far is Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai's 2046, in which he plays the small role of an android's suave boyfriend. It was released in US theatres in August last year, but raked in only a lukewarm US$1.44 million ($2.24m), according to Boxofficemojo.com. This is half the takings of the director's previous film, In The Mood For Love, which grossed US$2.7m in the US, and tiny compared to the US$53m raked in by Zhang Yimou's Hero.

On a personal level, Takuya's poor command of English could turn out to be his biggest entry barrier to the world of English-speaking showbiz. Japan's monolingual artistes also tend to focus on the lucrative local market, which is the world's second largest economy after America's. The failed US debut of J-pop stars like Hikaru Utada and Seiko Matsuda may have shaved some enthusiasm off him.

More significantly, there is a trend of Asian leading men breaking into Hollywood only after cementing their credibility back home. Just think Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan and Ken Watanabe, all of whom broke into the West only in their mid-40s.

J-pop authority James Kang, marketing director of Play Music which distributes Japanese albums including Smap's, said: 'There comes a point when (Japanese stars) need to break out of the status they've already achieved, but after so many failed attempts by other Japanese acts, they've also learnt to slowly harness their prowess before making that big leap.

'They'd also need a spectacular blockbuster to push them to the front line, like Memoirs Of A Geisha did for Zhang Ziyi. And being mega stars, they'd not settle for lesser roles.'

For Takuya, that crucial Hollywood breakthrough could just be his new film Love And Honour. The last of Yoji Yamada's highly-acclaimed samurai trilogy after The Twilight Samurai and The Hidden Blade, it was released in Japan last Friday and is slated to hit theatres worldwide next year. Already, Takuya has won critical praise for his convincing portrayal of a blind samurai when the film was shown at the recent 19th Tokyo International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, he continues to work his charm on TV, co-hosting weekly variety show SmapXSmap, and recently shooting his new novel-adapted drama, Kare-naru Ichizoku (loosely translated as The Grand Family) in Shanghai. It is slated for telecast in Japan next month.

LASTING POWER

To Japanese fans, Takuya's appeal lies in his lasting power, rare in an industry where fresher faces are churned out relentlessly.

Despite suffering a slight dent in popularity in 2000 due to his shotgun wedding to singer Shizuka Kudo, who is two years older than him, he soon regained his foothold with a more mature fatherly image. The couple have since weathered numerous divorce rumours and become the proud parents of two girls - Kokomi, 5, and Mitsuki, 3.

Librarian Rie Maeda, 26, who is a fan of the actor, said: 'Kimutaku (Takuya's nickname) has a sexy aura about him and he has screen presence. He makes fun of himself and even seems to enjoy dressing up as a woman. Above all, he is someone whom we can relate to. We admire him because we feel close to him, and he often voices opinions we agree with.'

Singaporean fans agreed Takuya's perennial screen appeal and fashion sense have withstood the test of time and marriage.

Civil servant Danne Chen, 33, said: 'He's going into his 30s looking really good. He has an incredible sense of style - he can carry off even the most ridiculous-looking hairstyle or clothes. But most of all, I respect that he married an older woman, has two kids and isn't afraid to be seen as a family man. Now, that's sexy.'

Added student Jasmine Tan, 20: '(Takuya) is the epitome of pop culture. He represents all the things that girls love in a man, such as sentimentalism, for example.'

Who else is sexy?

WHICH other Japanese heart-throbs besides Takuya Kimura are considered sexy male icons?

The New Paper posed this question to 10 women here.

Chinese-Japanese heart-throb Takeshi Kaneshiro, 33, scored with three women - probably due to his constant exposure and active involvement in Hong Kong cinema, like his upcoming film Confession Of Pain. Student Jasmine Tan said: 'Takeshi Kaneshiro looks better as he ages and he's so much more than just a passing face or boy idol.'

Water Boys star Satoshi Tsumabuki and Love Revolution's Naohito Fujiki both got two mentions each. Satoshi, 26, is adored for his boy-next-door appeal and is prolific in movies, including a much-talked-about guest appearance in the Hollywood flick The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Naohito, 34, is known for his brooding good looks and plays gentlemanly characters.

Two rock singers were also mentioned - L'Arc-en-Ciel's Hyde and Tokio's Tomoya Nagase - as well as two androgynous icons Mana and T.M. Revolution.

Other names that came up: Hideaki Ito, who plays a suave rescue diver in the action flick Umizaru, Hayami Mokomichi who plays a rebellious yakuza heir in Rondo and two members of boy band Kat-tun, Kazuya Kamenashi and Jin Akanishi.

garnet28, thank you so much for the J-sport pictures!! I've seen a couple of the recent years' J-sport's days but I've never seen one with SMAP. (since they cut off all ties with anything Johnny's related from 1996.)
That first picture is a really cute picture of all five members and the second one .. GORO is to DIE for.
I just loved all of those screen caps. (I guess anything involving Johnny's just does it for me. Too bad I didn't see any Arashi boys there.)
Thank you so much!! That totally made my day!

Surprisingly enough, Goro's a fast runner. When they did that marathon thing once, he won (and then the rest of them went to Paris), right? Interesting, despite his appearance and attitude.
