The star of the recent hit "Love and Honor", Takuya Kimura, has been known for "King of J-drama". All the TV dramas that he starred became huge hits, and the biggest of them was Fuji TV's "HERO" in 2001. Kimura played a maverick prosecutor who pursues the truth in his own way, and the drama got the average rating of 34.3%, the highest among all Fuji dramas historically. A special one-time drama was also aired in July 2006, which also got 30.9% rating.

Fuji's hit-maker producer Chihiro Kameyama has been thinking of making it into a movie for 3-4 years, and finally decided to go ahead recently. The feature version's screenplay is currently written, and the same main cast, including Takako Matsu, Nene Otsuka, Hiroshi Abe and Masanobu Katsumura, are supposed to appear. Fuji is hoping the repeat of "Bayside Shakedown" pattern, the strong drama-movie combination with the same cast, with successful sequels and spin-offs.

The film's release is scheduled in September, 2007.

Oh, and by the way, I noticed Ryuganji already has more detailed report on his blog. See Ryuganji.

Okay, this is my take in translating the news article. There some stuff that hadn't been mentioned in Ryuganji and hogacenter blogs.

KimuTakufs HERO Revive as A Movie!
With The Exact Original Casts Line-up!

translated by Yanie

On December 6th yesterday, it is decided that the FujiTV big-hit dorama starring SMAPfs Kimura Takuya (34) with an average rating over 30%, HERO will become a movie. This time, KimuTakufs character, Kuryu-kenji will have to face a challenge from the hard-to-defeat, strongest enemy, with Matsu Takako (29) and also the other original line-up casts. The movie which seems gonna be a national movie like the #1 box office nation-wide movie, Odoru Daisousassen [Bayside Shakedown], is planned to premiere nation-wide in September next year.

That Prosecutor Kuryu will finally return in a movie.

HERO, the drama series, broadcasted in Winter 2001. Tells the story of a juniorhigh-graduate, former-juvenile delinquent, unconventional prosecutor who has unusual opinions and insight, and always pursuing the truth. In addition to the interesting points of the story, the strong character became tremendously popular, and it has become a record as one of the #1 FujiTV drama series in the history with an average rating of 34.3%. In July this year, the story had also been revived to a one-episode special drama, after 5 years, with a high average rating of 30.9%.

Kameyama Chihiro, HERO productionfs chief, had always been thinking to make it as a movie since 3-4 years ago. But then, the final decision can only be made, after the drama special broadcasted. The script is still being written in the mean time, and the filming opening ceremony is planned to be held in March next year.

In the movie, Kuryu-kenji who just returned to his former office, the Tokyo Public Prosecutor Office Josai Branch, with the abilities and talents also law power, will have to face a showdown with the strongest enemy he ever find. The opponentfs role is still in the process of casting, and he/shefs definitely gonna be a big-name actor/actress, that even the Kuryu on the TV had never fight someone like him/her.

In the drama special, the set was on the Yamaguchi prefecture, and besides KimuTaku, the original casts had very little screen appearances. But this time, it is planned that the main casts will be the exact original line-up casts: Matsu Takako, Otsuka Nene (38), Abe Hiroshi (42), Katsumura Masanobu (43) and the others. The scale would be something larger, and therefs also plans to film scenes overseas.

HEROfs Prosecutor Kuryu and Odoru Daisousassenfs Police Detective Aoshima (Oda Yuji) as actors and as characters, both has the same strong image characters. Therefs a possibility that HERO might surpass Odoru Daisousassenfs success.

Yattaaaa~~!! Then, I guess it is confirmed. The story would be about Kuryu working in the TOKYO OFFICE!!!^0^ So, that means Kuryu-Amamiya as partners in fighting crime!!!!! :dancing:
And hopefully, by the end of the movie. It's a romantic scene of Kuryu proposing marriage to Amamiya!!! Haha

Kuryu: "Maiko(Amamiya's first name)... Will you marry me?"

i was pondering on what goro's next acting role should be and then i thought about who his co-star should be. wouldn't it be great if he co-stareed with either takeuchi yuko or shibasaki kou? for some reason i think that he would look good with these ladies, especially kou. i think because her look isn't so cutesy it'd fit well with goro's mature image. and she's so small and he has broad shoulders and is a bit taller than kimura. i think it would look good!! but i want his next role to be an arrogant, manly, assertive role. no more dorky, reserved, quiet, or feeble office man role!! i would really like to see him play sorta a ladies man role. his roles have been too asexual to me. even the last one where it was about his love with an ugly woman, i did not see it as a romantic role at all. god knows goro knows how to act around women. and i dunno, maybe throw in some hugs and kisses here and there. oh, a kiss would be nice. i haven't seen him kiss since maybe that one drama with tokiwa takako but that kiss was so fake so it doesn't count.

i just want, goro to stop making specials or comedic/silly dramas for a bit and do a romantic one. i dunno, maybe one where he carries a girl in his arms or something.

Bayside Shakedown is the English title given to the Jdrama Odoru Daisoussasen. It was a popular drama series that became an even more popular film series. Shingo would do parodies of it with Nakai and Goro on SxS and Goro guest starred as a bad guy in a special episode.

Haha, Goro-chan with a barbed wire tattoo and razor blade necklace :hehe:

Yeah, I think the Kinokuniya in San Jose was still selling Sample Bang and MIJ for close to and over $100.

I've only seen him in cutesy roles too. Didn't he used to play the more assertive ladies man type when he was younger? His roles have gotten goofier as he's gotten older. I loved M no Higeki but he was pretty wimpy in it (he was supposed to be, but still). I kind of want to see him play a really intense role either a romantic lead or maybe the lead bad guy in a psychological thriller. Something totally opposite of the type of character he's been playing for the last few years.

Haiz.. After waiting for the whole day.. I dun think i'll receive the order by today.. Those ppl working are really so slow.. I mean in my country.. Making me mad.. Have to wait till saturday..
7 Dec 2006, 16:11 #11697
yes livnagisa, i totally agree with you.

maybe he likes to play the goofy roles because he loves comedy. nakai has said that goro really commits to being comedic. oh but what a shame to waste such a face on comedy

i know the perfect role for goro, LAWYER! assertive, smart, well-dressed, successful maybe, have to be tough and aggressive, and of course the lawyer has to have women troubles. maybe the girl he falls in love with is the daughter of one of the men he put away to jail or something.

either that or he should be a police officer/detective. i would love to see goro in uniform.

but please no gentleman roles like the image goro has. with the wine and fine dining and everything.

but i think, goro would be great as a lawyer.
7 Dec 2006, 16:23 #11698
He should play a hardboiled cop...just to live out his childhood fantasies. Goro idolizes Clint Eastwood. He used to play with toy guns and pretend he was Dirty Harry :hehe: I think he still has a replica gun collection.
7 Dec 2006, 16:26 #11699
un yeah, he talks about his toy gun a lot. so adorable. but goro being a hard boiled cop is kinda a far stretch. it IS still goro after all hehe. but maybe he should slowly transition to that role. maybe he'll have to build some arm muscles for the role!

I'm sorry. I know it's hard waiting but at least you're going to get it soon. I'm looking to buy dvds from Yahoo Japan because even with fees it's still cheaper than other options. The only thing is I won't be getting an all region dvd player until I get back from holiday after New Year's. :( But still I'm happy because my nechan said that she'll get me the dvd player. Yokatta...I have such a yasashi onechan :D
