Well...relationships gradually changes as time passes. Just like a married couple....there must be different kind of phases in their marriage life, desho?
Same with SMAP. Yeah...I do mean SMAP is like a marriage...haha!! Only that its not 2 people, but its a marriage of 5-6 people. They have to accept their differences, work on their problems, tolerate different POVs and other members' personalities. That's similar to marriage, no? :hehe:
During their juniors time, back in 1988-1989, Kimura once told in Utaban 2000 episode, that the 5 of them stayed over at Goro's house for a night. And the 6 of them enter the bathtub together!! haha....can't believe it. When they were trying to fill the bathtub, the water tap won't open, the water won't come out. One of them try to pull it so hard, 'till it falls off...and from the hole, there were cockroaches coming out!!! Haha...the 6 of them were shocked and pushing each other as they want to get out from the tub! Imagine the situation!
From that story, I'm assuming that when they were teenagers, they are really close and always hangout together. However, as they grow become an adult, their relationship grows too. They just can't be the way they used to be...and it just happened naturally.
Shingo said in an interview, "Members are members to me....they're not brothers, they're not friends...they're MEMBERS, probably the only ones who can understand this feeling, is only the other members,". I'm translating this as: That members are everything to him. Hehe....
In IiTomo, Shingo was asked, "Whose numbers you save in your cellphones?". He answered, "Father, mother, uncles, just family relatives...really, no friends,". "How about SMAP members?". He replied, "Maa....yes, members too...". I translate this as: SMAP = family for Shingo^^
In Honkowa SP, Goro said this: "How should I put it, ne... I never really say anything about friendship verbally... Well...though it's kind of embarrassing...but I think I have friendship with the other members...of our group... Although we are not friends, but there's feeling of friendship between us... It is such a complicated relationship type....*laughs*..."
Haha...whatever that is! I think they ARE friends. They just have too much pride to admit they are friends!! xD Is that a thing between guys?
But, I think I can understand their kind of relationship. I had it with my college mates. There are 6 of us, at the campus in classes, we always sit side by side. We're always together during lunch and other breaks. But outside the campus, not so much. I rarely go to their houses, some I never went. We never call each other much, unless for necessary things. We rarely go out together in weekends, only once in awhile. I kept thinking, "Are they my bestfriends?? Are we called bestfriends or not?".
Then when I went thru a hard time where I realized Dentistry is not something I want to do for the rest of my life and I wanna quit. They're the first persons who support me and understand how I feel, because they know me very well. And I realized...that is what bestfriends is...
It doesn't need SMAP members to hangout in each other's houses or frequently call each other, to be bestfriends. They understand each other, they support each other, they know each other the best, they listen to each other.... They ARE bestfriends.
I don't think, even Shingo's local hometown friends who often come to his house to hang out and play, can understand Shingo or listens to him. Probably only Takuya or Tsuyoshi who does that....
So, minna... Are we bestfriends?? ^_^
woah.. thanks for all these info!! i appreciate your effort!!
