I'm not sure if anyone has posted this yet but this was in Singapore Strait's Times' Life!

Kimura says no to Best Actor nomination
TOKYO - Pop star-turned-serious thespian Takuya Kimkura has turned down a Japan Academy Award nomination for his role as a blind samurai in the period hit, Love And Honor.
The movie by director Yoji Yamada won 12 nominations on Wednesday, including Best Actor for Kimura, reported movie magazine Variety.
An Academy spokesman said Kimura's talent company, Johnny & Associates, rejected the nomination, saying it did not "want to put him in a position of competing with other actors for the prize."
Johnny, which is famous for its mass-manufactured pop-star pin-ups, has a policy of not taking part in contests and awards. But its rejection of a Japan Academy honour is a first.
