Ueda: So, this song is your new single, right?
Shingo: Yes! I bring the cd.
Ueda: Ah sou...so this is your 39th single, ne.
(Shingo opens up the cover and its written Dear Izumi)
Ueda: What's this? Dear Izumi?
Shingo: Yes, you can write your own name here. Hai...this is for you...
Izumi: Ahh...thank you...
Fujiki: Ehh...what about us? *points at himself and Ueda*
Shingo: I don't bring anything for you...
//
PRIVATE ~The P File~
Ueda: Okay first...oh, this is from another SMAP member...Kusanagi-kun... The question is "What's so great about Katori Shingo?". The answer is "He doesn't sleep". (audience laughs) So, you don't sleep?
Shingo: No, I don't.
Ueda: What do you mean with this? Like, for the whole day?
Shingo: *thinks and pauses for secs* ..................
Ueda: You must be sleeping now!
(laughs)
Ueda: Your brain is sleeping, isn't it??
Shingo: You think so?
Ueda: Definitely!
Shingo: Honestly, yes...I think it's still sleeping...
(laughs)
Fujiki: When you're awake, how long are you awake?
Shingo: I can be awake for the whole 2 days...
Ueda: Heee....I don't think I can be awake that much....
Shingo: Actually...in one day, I might have sleep for about 30 minutes... and I can do that for 3 days. When I realized in the 3rd day, I've only slept for 1,5 hours in 3 days.
Ueda: Suggeeee.........so you got a lot of works that you can't sleep at all??
Shingo: No, not really...I don't do drama series right now.... But I do alot of things in my private times that I missed when I filmed the drama series. Like watching movies, reading books...and drinking beer, all the time.
(laughs)
Ueda: Hee...so you're not really going out?
Shingo: No, I seldom goes out...
Ueda: So, you call your friends to your house?
Shingo: Yeah, sometimes... Then, when those friends works from morning to afternoon....I'm still awake, ...and drinking.
Ueda: Hoeee....so, everyday you're always in the mood for Rio Carnival???
Shingo: *laughs* Hai!
Ueda: So...if someone try to wakes you up....will you wake up soon?
Shingo: Nope.
Ueda: What?
Shingo: THAT'S WHY....because I can't easily wake up, once I asleep already...so, I'm always awake...like on my vacation... Once I asleep, I usually sleep for about 20 hours. For example, if tomorrow is my break day...*he keeps forming circles with his finger from now on* today I work till eleven o'clock at night, then if I go home and sleep...I'll wake up on 9 o'clock at night the next day. Then my break day is already over. So, what I usually do, after I go home, I keep awake until 3-4 o'clock afternoon the next day, make use of my break day to do lots of things. Then, I will go sleep...and probably would wake up at 3 o'clock midnight...then, I'll keep awake to go to work.....
[image][image]
Ueda: Stop drawing the diagrams...I wouldn't understand that!!
Fujiki: I lost track on which day you're talking about already!
Ueda: Okay then, let's continue to the next one. There's another answer from Kusanagi. You know...actually, from all the informations we gathered about your private matters, half of it are from Kusanagi-san!
(laughs)
Ueda: Okay then...what's so great about Katori Shingo? From Kusanagi... He can put in a CD into his mouth.
Shingo: Aaa....
Ueda: Is it really that big?
Shingo: I guess so.
Ueda: CD is about this big, y'know!
Shingo: I wonder too...but probably the small CD can fit in....
Ueda: We have CD here...will you try it??
Shingo: But if its the big one...I'm not sure....
(the staff bring over a CD tube with normal-sized CDRs inside)
Shingo: Ehh...I'm not sure if I can do this, though...I don't think this'll fit into my mouth....
(Shingo tries to put it in, and half of it fits in!!!!^o^)
[image][image]
Ueda: Katori-kun, you looked like the Saturn planet, just now....
(laughs)
Ueda: So...the things Kusanagi-kun, who has been close with you for 20 years, praises about you, is THIS???
Shingo: Yeah, I wonder why he mentioned this. Not to mention, I've never done this anymore now. The last time I did this, was about 6 years ago. So, why did Kusanagi mention this for today??
Ueda: Nee... I thought, after I read this information. You might have done this in the dressing room/backstage sometimes, recently.
Shingo: NOT AT ALL.
Ueda: I see...
Shingo: I'll scold him later about this!
(laughs)
Ueda: One more thing, he wrote "Katori Shingo's great thing" is "To draw the black rabbit in his heart". What does that mean? The black rabbit in your heart?
Shingo: Well...I like to draw...
Ueda: You're good at drawing, ne! Can you draw that black rabbit in your heart now for us??
Shingo: *laughs and mumbles to himself* "The black rabbit IN MY HEART" ...???
(the audience applause, the staff give him a paper and black marker)
Shingo: *start drawing and mumbles* Why must he mention this....
Ueda: *to the audience* Can't Kusanagi-kun mention much better things about Katori-kun???
(laughs)
Shingo: Black rabbit...
Ueda: So, what's this? Is the rabbit something bad in your heart?
Shingo: Actually, I've drawn this black rabbit for about 2 years now...
Ueda: Oh, I see...you've drawn this for 2 years...
Shingo: Somehow, I saw that black rabbit....inside me.
(laughs)
Ueda: *to the show's staffs* Wait a minute! Sorry! Is this really what we call The Guest's Profile???
(laughs)
Shingo: *showing the rabbit drawing* This is it...well, the eyes suppose to be red.
Ueda: So this is the black rabbit in your heart, that Kusanagi-san mentioned.
Shingo: Sou desu nee...
Ueda: *looks confused* So this is something, an image you have in your head...? *to the camera* Seriously, why are you giving this, Kusanagi-kun??!?
Shingo: Actually...okay, I'll tell you... I saw this black rabbit in my house.
Ueda: It's in your house??
Izumi: So it's your pet?
Shingo: No, no...it's not my pet. Just suddenly, when I look to the side...I saw that black rabbit at the back of the couch.
Ueda: *points at the drawing* This thing??
Shingo: Yeah... It's suppose not to be there...but I, some times, see it...and I wonder what is this thing? Who is this rabbit? And I even look for it in my house, once....
Ueda: *straight face* This is... You know what? GET SOME SLEEP!
(Shingo and the audience laughs)
Ueda: You rarely sleep, that's why you keep seeing weird things!
Shingo: Yeah you know..., but I can't find it anymore now. Since then, I start drawing this rabbit.
Ueda: Oh, I see...so that's why, you start drawing this at times?
Shingo: This is actually the first time I tell this story to people.
(laughs)
Ueda: *laughs* So, why did Kusanagi-kun give this information, huh??
Shingo: Actually....I'm fine if he only mentions "the black rabbit". But, he really shouldn't add "...in my heart"!! This is just something I like to draw!
Ueda: I see... Okay then, let's continue to the next one. This is from Cyaeen's Amano-kun.
[note: Cyaeen is the Manzai duo(comedians) who co-hosts Tensei Shingo variety show together with Shingo, for 6-7 years already.]
Shingo: Ah...this is gonna be alright.
Ueda: A great thing about Katori Shingo. "He walks around without wearing any hats". Hee...really? Wouldn't that be troublesome?? People will see you and call you, "Katori-kun da!". So you really don't wear hats when you walks around?
Shingo: No, I don't.
Ueda: So, you go out...just casually like that?
Shingo: Yup, just casually. Well...sometimes for fashion, I wear sunglasses and hats, of course...
Ueda: *nods* Ee, ee...but you don't intentionally do that for disguising yourself?
Shingo: Nope.
Ueda: But, wouldn't that be troublesome? Like when you walk around Shibuya...
Shingo: Just recently, I went to Omote Sando Hills!
Fujiki: That's the most crowded place!
Shingo: I went from the top to below....
Ueda: Then there must be people who went "Waaaaa!" to see you, right? Like screaming to the others, "He's in Omote Sando Hills, come here!!!!!".
Shingo: Not really... Well, I've thought of that before, actually....years ago, I usually disguised myself... But then...in television shows...don't we always ask the fans to keep supporting us? And we always say, "Please watch our show". Then, if we actually meet them on the street, they'll say, "Aa...Shingo-chan! How are you??".
Then if we suddenly try to hide ourselves like this... Isn't that weird??
Ueda: Oooo..........coz they've always support you, ne!!
(the audience applaud, and looks like Shingo didn't expect the applause...he feels weird and smiling unsure...)
[image][image]
Ueda: That's why, you never go in disguise anymore?
Shingo: ...did I just say something good?
(yanie: Okay...I just want to say here. That you MUST see this for yourself, to see SHINGO's KAKKOI-NESS here!! He absolutely didn't prepare what he's gonna say!! We can obviously see that! And so, this explanation comes from the bottom of his heart, without realizing that this is really something that would make the fans feels very happy!!! He felt odd when the audience suddenly give him an applause, he really didn't expect that. Coz he thought this is just something common to think about. But of course the audience, the fans feels very happy to hear this! My love for him just blooms even more *v*)
Ueda: So you went to that Omote Sando Hills to go shopping?
Shingo: Yes, I go for shopping and sight-seeing...
Ueda: So you go to those Western-style clothes shops?
Shingo: For clothes, I usually see them in magazines first. Then I pick them out, and listed the shops that sells them....
Fujiki: Alone?
Ueda: That sounds like what the office ladies usually do!!!
Shingo: Yes...
Ueda: So you call the listed shops?
Shingo: Yes, I'd call the shops. Then, I'll ask is the clothes on this magazine, this issue...available in your store? Then if they say its available...I'll go there.
Ueda: So you usually call them yourself, then go by yourself?
Shingo: Yes. But sometimes, it turn out not available.
Ueda: Oh? Though they've said it is??
Shingo: Yeah...though I went there already... Actually, it happened just recently... the sales clerk was really an annoying person.
Ueda: Oh really??
Shingo: He said to me, "What's in the magazine, doesn't mean it's what we have!!".
Ueda: The person who receive your call?
Shingo: Isn't that weird?? Don't we buy things after we see it on the mags? Then he said, "We have something similar with the one on the magazine, though...if you want."
Ueda: How annoying....
Shingo: I said, "It's fine, fine... I won't go! Bye!!" then I hung up. There's another annoying sales clerk...I asked the way, and he said in an annoyed tone, "After that street, go to the right,". "Ah, to the right ne, wakarimashita..." I talk to him all the while I'm going there, and he kept that annoyed tone. But when I arrive there, and see who I was, he suddenly went all, "Ahhh...doomoooo~~!!! Konnichiwaaa~~!!!".
(laughs)
Shingo: What an annoying clerk!
Ueda: So you didn't buy anything from that store?
Shingo: No, I bought the clothes I want.
(laughs)
[CM]
Ueda: This is an information from Mitani Koki-san!
[note: Mitani Koki is a popular comedy movie director and also a scriptwriter who had worked with Shingo about 5-6 times in Furuhata vs SMAP, Ai Kotoba wa Yuuki, Homeroom(HR), Shinsengumi, THE Uchoten Hotel.]
Shingo: *smiles* Okay.
Ueda: You've worked with Mitani-san alot of times, ne! A great thing about Katori Shingo is... "Though we've worked together so many times, he still haven't give me his cellphone number. I gave him my number, but he never send me any messages at all.".
(laughs)
Ueda: May I make the conclusion that you hate Mitani-san?
Shingo: No, no, no. Not at all... I just don't...do that...
Ueda: Why is that?
Shingo: "Why?" *thinks*
Ueda: It's weird, you meet him so often, don't you?
Shingo: Cyaeen doesn't know my number either.
Ueda: Eee...?? Though they're worked with you so many years?
Shingo: Yes.
Ueda: Why?
Shingo: I just don't feel like giving away my number.
(laughs)
Shingo: I'd feel like...what should I say, if they call me?
Ueda: Hee? You don't like being called? *looks at the information papers* So these people doesn't know your number? Cyaeen, Mitani-san...
Shingo: I've once, daring-ly, give my number...to Oda Yuji-san...daring-ly, really...
(laughs and the hosts expressions are "???")
[note: Oda Yuji is a famous actor since the early 90s. His most popular dramas recently are Odoru Daisousassen (Bayside Shakedown) and Last Christmas with Yada Akiko. He had starred a drama with Shingo, titled Koi wa Aserazu (Can't Hurry Love) in 1998.]
Fujiki: Then, did he call you? Oda-san call you?
Shingo: He called me once. That time, I did a comedy skit, that was a parody of Oda Yuji-san's drama, in SMAPxSMAP.
Ueda: Yes, yes.
Shingo: After that skit broadcasted...when I was having dinner with my friends.... I got a call, "Moshimoshi!! This is Oda!". I went, "Oda?? Who the hell are you?!".
(laughs)
Shingo: I don't have any friends named Oda.
Ueda: I see, I see...so you think it was a prank?
Shingo: Yeah, I thought it was a prank, and I kept asking, "Who are you? Who are you?". Then he said, "Oda Yuji dayo!!". Wooooo........!!!!
(laughs)
Shingo: He said, "I just saw it...you did a parody of me huh??", "Yes, yes", "Yeah, I just wanted to say that,", then I told him, "Can you please not to call me anymore?".
Ueda: *shocked* You said that to Oda Yuji??!?
Shingo: Yes.
Ueda: I'm sorry...but, may I know what kind of policy is this?? You just said, that you had dinner with your friends. But with this, you must not have friends, don't you?
Shingo: Those are my hometown friends...they're all common people, they work in business companies like that....
Ueda: Ahh...souu... So you don't like to have friends from the entertainment world? You don't want to be friends with them?
Shingo: ...........*nods* Hai.
(he got "???" faces from the hosts)
Shingo: I'll say it clearly here! I don't want to make friends with people from the entertainment world!!!!
(everyone laughs including Shingo himself)
Ueda: Alright then, let's continue. This is from Cyaeen's Udo-chan! "Katori Shingo's Unexpected Side"! His answer is "He always watch soccer, actually his soccer skill is very good. He usually bring a ball to the filming location and do passing exercise."
Shingo: Ee...
Ueda: So you're addicted to soccer?
Shingo: Sometimes...
Ueda: So sometimes you have a match...and you practise...
Shingo: Not at all...
Ueda: Then, what do you mean with 'sometimes'? Where do you do it?
Shingo: I do soccer inside....the house....
Ueda: Inside the house??!
Shingo: Yes, I call it "House Soccer".
Ueda: So you do this house soccer?
Shingo: Yes. I do the match in the house. Like, 4 against 4.
Ueda: EE?? Seriously, inside the house?!
Shingo: The living room door and the glass door are the goal posts...
Ueda: For that 4 against 4 match?
Shingo: Yeah....the first time I did it, there were so many things broken.
Ueda: Of course...it's the living room!!
Shingo: Yes, it was really bad. The lamps were broken. And also this long speaker....it was broken into half!
(laughs)
Ueda: Then as a soccer fan you must've looking forward to this year's World Cup, huh?
Shingo: Yes. I'm really looking forward to it!
Ueda: Who is your favorite soccer athlete?
Shingo: Nakata-senshu(athlete)....Hide.
Ueda: Have you met Nakata Hide-senshu before?
Shingo: I met him in Italy...coincidentally....
Ueda: Coincidentally?? What happened, then?
Shingo: I went to Milan that time, with my 'house soccer' friends. We went shopping there... Then, we saw him at the back, who was also shopping.
Ueda: Nakata-senshu?
Shingo: Yes...then, I met him. I really admire him...so it was "Waaa...." for me. Then I took a picture together with him.
(laughs)
Ueda: This is something! It was Katori Shingo who asked to take a picture together!
Shingo: Yeah, I said, "Please take a picture together with me".
Ueda: I think he also like to ask you to take a picture with him too!
Shingo: No, no...I don't think so...
Ueda: Then?
Shingo: After we took the picture, he invite me, "Let's have a meal together!".
Ueda: He's the one who invited you?
Shingo: "Your friends too!" he said.
Ueda: Heee.....
Shingo: Cho kakkoi!!!(he was so cool)
Ueda: Ee...kakkoi, kakkoi!
Shingo: He said that in a cool tone...really... He's actually the same age with me.
Ueda: Oh really?
Shingo: In a cool tone, he said to me, "Let's have a meal together", "No, no...I'm with my friends here", "It's okay, let's go with your friends too".
Ueda: Hueeee.........
Shingo: He was very cool....
Ueda: Then?
Shingo: "Gomen nasai" I said to him.
(The audience went "heeee?????". Ueda freeze, at once!! haha!)
Ueda: *shocked* Ee...you...?????
Fujiki: You just said he was so cool!
Shingo: *laughs* I can't do that!! That was really the limit... that's it.
Ueda: Why?
Shingo: I'll become close with him, if I accept his invitation...
Ueda: It's okay!!! Just bring him closer to you!! He invited you already!! He's the person you admire! What a waste!!
Shingo: Then...
Ueda: How did he take it? He must went, "Heee?", right?
Shingo: Ah yes...he went, "Haa??" like that.
(laughs)
Ueda: Of course he did!!! I mean its like, "Let's have a meal together...bring your friends too,", "No, thank you,", "Haa???". He must be shocked!
Shingo: But...when we had that conversation, I accidentally told him the hotel I stayed in. He asked me, "Which hotel you stayed in?". So at the very end, he said, "Okay, fine about the meal...I'll catch you later in your hotel,". Yabeeeeeee(this is baaad)........I thought!!
(laughs)
Shingo: Then I went eat with my friends, we went back to the hotel. And suddenly from the hotel room, I got a phone call at midnight, "This is Nakata. I'm at the lobby right now,".
Ueda: Ah....Nakata-senshu is such an agressive person, ne!!
Shingo: I was shocked! Then, I called my friends and they gathered at my room. I asked them, "What should I do?".
(laughs)
Shingo: Then they said, "Just go, just go, just go!!".
Ueda: Of course!
Shingo: But I kept thinking, "What should I do??". Alright then...I have to go. So my friends choose the clothes for me... Coz, I'm going with Nakata-senshu alone, just the two of us...I have to wear something nice. Then they said to me, "Do you bring your wallet?? Be strong okay? Don't lose to him!".
(laughs)
Shingo: So I went down with the elevator...and when it reach the lobby floor, I took a peek from inside to see where he is. Then I see him in a quite far distance, getting up and throw his jacket to his shoulder like this! He waved at me! I thought, "Uwaaaaa!!!!" *covering his mouth*
[image][image]
(laughs)
Shingo: We had a drink on the lobby's bar and we talked for about 2 hours.
Ueda: Heee....
Shingo: But I didn't get to use my wallet at all.
Ueda: So, Nakata-senshu treat you?
Shingo: It all happened so fast! He asked me "What do you want to drink?". I said "Beer". Then he start talking to the waiter, "syubla pleba miriebla...". I was so surprised, uwaaa....kakkoiiii!!!!
[CM]
Ueda: During Saiyuuki filming, you had to do alot of action scenes with the staff, don't you?? It must be difficult, desho?
Shingo: Sou desu ne. Before it started filming, I practiced it for a month.
Ueda: A month? You practiced that much?
Shingo: Eee...
Ueda: Fujiki, you also practiced that rope spinning?
[He meant in Fujiki's drama, Gal Sir, where he played the role as a cowboy]
Fujiki: Yeah, I practiced...
Ueda: Liar!! You don't need any practice for that!
(laughs)
Fujiki: Well...for me, just for one day...
Ueda: *laughs* Ah sou! *to Shingo* Actually, we had borrow the Nyoi-staff from FujiTV.
(the audience applaud)
Ueda: Can you please show us, some attraction with the staff?
Shingo: Yes.
(Then, Shingo start to spin the Nyoi-staff. The audience was amazed. But then the staff dropped to the floor!! Haha!!! Shingo's face looks so cute when this happens! But then, he picked it up again, put it on his foot....he lift up his foot to the back, throwing the staff to the air with his foot, the staff spins in the air, and Shingo managed to catch it. KAKKKOIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!*v*)
[image][image]
(the audience applaud)
Ueda: Kakkoiii.... *to Fujiki* Try that in Gal Sir, throw the rope with your foot like that!
Fujiki: No, no, I can't.
Ueda: Okay, there's another comment....this is from Hashimoto Kinichi-san!
Shingo: Woo...Kin-chan!!
(note: Kin-chan is his co-host in the Kasoh Taisho show.)
Ueda: Is there something you'd like Katori Shingo to fix in himself? He said, "Not at all!! Just keep doing things the way you usually do!! It's already good that way!".
Shingo: *looks very happy* Woah....!!!
(the audience applaud)
The talk show ends here.

Yanie's Comments:
1. Uhh...Shingo-kun, ...actually there's something I want you to fix. Please, please, please....cut down your drinking and smoking habit. Take care of your health. You're not in your 20s anymore starting today. And GET SOME SLEEP!!! xD
2. You must be wondering what's with this "I don't want to make friends with celebrities" thing Shingo had. The way I see it...Shingo never really think of himself as a celebrity. He likes his jobs in the entertainment world, but he never consider himself as someone popular. He's just a common human being, and he likes the casual, normal way of life. That's why, in private times, he wants to be around the common people, to make himself feels common and comfortable. He never consider himself as someone at the same level with ANY famous people, and he never realized he is even MORE popular than those people. Like when he met Sakaguchi Kenji on the airplane to New York, he didn't had the chance to greet him. Nakai asked him, "Why didn't you greet him?". He replied, "Eeeh....I can't, he's a celebrity y'know...how can I just greet him like that...?".
In Taiwan, he was also like that. Which Japanese celebrity would ask to shakes hands with the fans??? That's totally the other way around!! Isn't usually the fans asks to shakes hands with the stars? But no...Shingo is the one who asked to shakes hands with the 900 SMAP fans there.
Actually, with juniors too...he never have this concious that he's a senpai. He's the one asking to shake hands first with Matsumoto Jun years ago, and also with Kamenashi Kazuya recently in IiTomo.
And above all...it's obvious now why he choose A-san, the OL, instead of Yuuka, Tabata Tomoko or Uehara Takako xD lol! (note: he had nothing with those ladies, actually...just thought these ladies had great chemistry with Shingo in dramas^^)
30΂̒a¶“ú‚¨‚߂łƂ¤‚²‚´‚¢‚Ü‚·, TŒá‚‚ñ!!!
