not the most recent film (released last year) but i finally saw Haru no Yuki last night on my new DVD player ^_^
a very intriguing film set in 1912 Japan...i've been wanting to watch this movie forever....aw, man it was great, i almost felt as if i was watching a play.
some very passionate scenes with Yuko and Satoshi!
the costume design was exceptional! Yuko looked absolutely stunning in her furisode kimonos.....as the Japanese would say....
Yamato Nadeshiko (perfect woman)
if you like either actor or historical period pieces as the backdrop...i highly recommend it....
Following his hugely successful CRYING OUT LOVE IN THE CENTER OF THE WORLD, director Isao Yukisada brings us another tragic love story based on the eponymous Mishima novel. Set during the Meiji Restoration, the film revolves around Kiyoaki and Satoko, both from noble families. Growing up together as best friends, Satoko gradually realizes her love for Kiyoaki and musters the courage to show her feelings for him. However, the young-blooded Kiyoaki refuses to be chained by love, breaking her heart with cold and cynical words. As the devastated Satoko agrees to marry the prince, as her parents have arranged, Kiyoaki finally realizes his love for Satoko, which forces them to stand against their parents and even royalty. Their fatal passion, lurking beneath the beautifully restrained images, becomes immortal. Loyal to the convention of a tragic yet beautiful love story, SPRING SNOW cannot be farther from originality, but if you wish to purify tainted love and, moreover, have ever dreamed of a first kiss in a coach on a snowy evening, then this film is guaranteed to sweep you off your feet.

Yuko looks good.....in bed.
i totally agree. this is a superb beautifully shot movie. yuko is so enchanting. i don't recommend watching this on a plane though, you only see half of it!
