34 % thing a knight can beat a samurai. funny.

Do you people have any idea what kind of trainning a samurai have to go through to be a called samurai. Just think of Musashi Miyamoto, he's a master of the sword, but also he's a master of the mind as well.

there're many different types of kendo, there's also the study of bushido and Zen. Japanese swordmenship are considered the best in the world by most of the world best martial artist.

English swordmenship is just throwing your sword around in the air and hope the connect to someone head. beisde the basic technique of holding your sword in your hand there's really isn't any other technique about fighting. there's no mental aspect of english swordmenship.

Japanese Sword are the toughest and strongest in the world. It design is to bring fore the entire body strength behind the sword. it's was meant to be use by 2 hands

Just look at Hollywood, matrix, blade and Kill Bill, and a thousand others, they all use Japanese swordmenship.

A samurai will destory an English knight or any knight.

Any real fighter know that mobile is the key to victory.

Do you have any idea how heavy the knight sword is? it's like 20-30 pounds, after a swing the body follow the the sword. most of the sword is use by one hand not 2 hands. there's no power behind one hand.

anyone in here study kendo and Kung Fu?

Well As i know dat Musashi's technique is 2 hand style..but I ever seen that in Knight's battle they also use 1 longsword and one little blade..n I thought that Both knight and samurai also put more emphasis in the stroke,,,and like i use to play in videogame even da sword is heavy if da person who held is also big well man u're in big trouble..Speed vs power which one gonna win hardly can tell ne

They both have their advantages. But like the majority, the Samurai have the best advantage. But you have to really consider the skill of the the samurai and knight that you put into battle. A samurai won't win 100% of the time and neither will a knight. It depends on the individual's skill level and experience. Using Miyamoto Musashi against a 'regular' knight would be the biased. If it were pitted against just plainly a knight and samurai of regular skill, then ok, (pretty much) it's safe to make a judgement. And given that, I would pick the samurai over the knight. Why? Well, as said before, a samurai has more flexibilty, and is well more resourceful than a samurai. What do I mean by resourceful? Well, (IMO) a samurai not only has had training in the sword, but he is able to fight without a sword, as a knight may not be as well adjusted as the samurai without a sword. Plus, the samurai has been trained to be agile and at peace with his mind. A knight is also trained for battle, but they are not at peace in mind and body as a samurai has been trained to be which serves as a big advantage in battle. But like I said, it is kind of hard to tell being that these two instances were from different time periods (you know how human evolution and advancement is). But this theory on the samurai is all in my opinon, so I don't expect for anyone to think that I'm stating facts here.

The training both samuri and knight are very similar.... except for a few differences.... you have to realize that the knight is very well trained and so is the samuri. They are both masters of their swords and styles. I believe some of you are getting confuzed with regular foot soldiers... A knight is a special honor just like the samuri. They both have different motives as well A samuri fights for his war lord and community. A knight fights for his faith and country so both the samuri and knight have equal motives in combat. Samuri training is about style and the mind.... the Knights training is a lot different they first start off as scribes learning in school and training with swords styles and horses. Then when the scribe is old enough he becomes a Squire and serves a knight in battle so he gets experiance in combat. Then if he is worthy he is given the status of Knight. So i believe that the knight and samuri are equaly matching in training skill. Now for weapons..... an english sword is not Dull and it does not weigh a ton ... it is sharp maybe not as sharp as a katana but its still kill sharp!. Its true a english long sword is slightly heavier then a katana but that doesnt mean its bad.... its actualy good to have a weighted blade if you are going to fight someone in armour. Also the knight doesnt just have the longsword to use as a weapon.... he could have a Great sword one of the best weapons ever made because of its size and weight..... as i have found out in 1700-1800 the japanese started to use the great sword and also the lance in a large abundance. But we are talking 1400's so the samuri wouldnt have those weapons.... but the knight would. Also if the knight was carrying a shield the samuri wouldnt know what to do because he wouldnt have any experiance fighting against an enemy with one.

One thing that gives the knight a huge advantage is his ability to adapt in combat.... Because the english fought many many different cultures and different enemies and countries and gone up against many different weapons and combat styles... so the knights would be taught how to fight a large variety of different enemies. while the samuri on the other hand only faught other samuris and sometime the chinese then much later on the Mongols.

ok now about the other comments posted....
someone said that a samuri could kick a knight over and stab him. Id like to see a 4-5ft samuri kick a knight off his horse....... its not going to happen. I dont know who posted that a katana can cut through anything ... but that is totaly false.... Its not a light saber.... its made of metal! it is imposible for a katana to cut through full platemail... i have asked around.... every person i know who owns a katana will tell you that it cannot cut through metal because i think some of them have tryed and dulled their blades. As for full platemail yes a crossbow will go through it but what if the knight was the one with the crossbow!?!? then the samuri would be at a disadvantage cause armour would help against a crossbow... but not stop a crossbow. Also i dont know where the hand cannon and long bow came from.... but last i heard samuris dont carry cannons or 6 foot long bows....... A anothing thing is unarmed combat... there is unarmed combat for knights and it was very effective the only reason why we dont see it being practiced today is because it was abandoned a long time ago when the gun was invented when the asian unarmed fighting styles were still around. Some of you see way too many movies and play way too many video games.

the last person who posted..... Peace in mind what do you mean? ..... and how does it help in combat..... do you mean he is unafraid? because the knight has probably seen just as much combat as the samuri so you cant say one is less afraid....

Nice analysis.

I guess your analysis overrides everyone elses'.

Well we can't argue with an expert.

Sorry for putting our two cents in. We are speechless.

OK the individual with the better skill, luck, situation etc. would win. Both cultures evolved to solve that same problems and have come up with roughly equivalent solutions.

Hey, man, DO NOT get Chewie's name incorrect! Chewbacca, OK? Take a break from that Uchiya Arena or whatever her name is for a sec' and maybe you can get other folks' names correctly. :hehe: Prffft, yeah, jus' joking, but only 75% joking, yeah, whatever.

Now -- and this will be addressed in the next Star Wars installment --wookies have a high susceptibility to the Force; ergo, they make for some FINE Jedi; combine innate Wookie roughhouse-ness with denizens who end up becoming full-fledged Jedi knights, pit them against a culture who designates war, basically, as their religion and . . . well, heck, wouldn't it be time for a generic sci-fi' "Age of Empires" type game just to see how long such a spirited battle would last?
