The link to the documentary in "The Nonfiction" series is apparently not the correct one. After coming across this article, I think this is the link to that program. Not much info about the contents. The info I posted earlier is probably not the contents of this program, gomen.

On the above mentioned blog this posting is really nice. Ryoko at the beach. Less text, more pictures. Captures from a tv program. I wonder if that tv program can be found somewhere on-line...

even so, when you use those translator, altavista, makes it even more confusing trying to read the translated text, word for word... :hehe:

Yeah, those translators are translating the words in English but still following the Japanese grammar :shakehead: .

I hope there will be a translator software which can translate words correctly and at the same time, have an intelligent grammar :bonk: :hehe:

Something with AI would be great. :)

I find it simpler to use a dictionary and translate it word by word. You can actually make sense. It takes longer, but it's a way to learn new words.

If it's written in romaji then I have no problem with translating words using a dictionary  .

I use rikaichan a lot myself. Rikaichan is a Japanese-English dictionary extension for Firefox.

For longer texts I use http://excite.co.jp/world/english/ or http://excite.co.jp/world/english/web/. Don't forget to select the correct translation ‰p=English, “ú=Japanese.

For text with a lot of names or lists of names I use WWWJDIC (mirrors) and select the ENAMDICT (the dictionary for Japanese proper names).

Others are Google translate and Babel Fish.

http://www.j-talk.com/nihongo/ is a good one for romanizing Japanese text.

Thank you tiny. :say_cool:

I used rikaiXUL a few times, but then it stopped working with Firefox 0.9 or 1.0. I didn't know there was another one like that.

Thanks again. :woot:
