I just saw her recently in the movie Departures. Honestly, I think she's a better movie actress than dorama actress.

I have adnired Ryoko for a long time. I think she really is a good actress in the most serious way of thinking. She has a good face for playing any kind of role to show emotions. She is funny and sweet but she is not the usual little pretty face with smiles and nothing else.
I loved her in 'Shotgun Wedding' and even tho it ws a long time ago I can still remember scenes.

I was blown away by the sharpness of her short scene with Takuya Kimura at the beginning of 'MR BRAIN'. A lesser actress would have done it and been forgotten...but Ryoko played it precisely, and with reality, and I still remember this better than most of the other scenes in this drama. She was the perfect partner for Kimura and I would dearly love to see her play opposite him in a drama for a full length role.

She has a good singing voice and really has the gift similar to some of the jazz singers of the past.
What an interesting person and what a good actress.

Ryoko divorced her husband? why?

maybe she thought that her ex was an asshole :metaldevil: :metaldevil:

after she got married she only have minor roles. before she was so popular but after her shotgun marriage to this takahiro guy she's only offered for supporting roles, for an A-Lister like her it would be very upsetting for her career (well that's what i thought.) so she ditched her good-for-nothing husband! :jumpie: :jumpie:

The article from Tokyograph (http://www.tokyograph.com/news/id-2757):
Ryoko Hirosue divorces

Thu, March 13, 2008 (4:21pm EDT)

Actress Ryoko Hirosue revealed on Thursday that she and designer/model Takahiro Okazawa have divorced. According to the announcement made on her official website, various circumstances have made it difficult for the couple to continue with their marriage. However, Hirosue stated that she still respects and trusts Okazawa, and they intend to still treat each other as parents of their child.

The couple surprised the entertainment industry when they announced their marriage in December 2003. Hirosue was pregnant at the time, and she gave birth to their son four months later. She finally returned to work in 2005 with the Fuji TV series "Slow Dance."

Rumors of a separation started about two years ago when a women's magazine reported that the pair were living apart, and they were rarely seen together.

Hirosue has been given custody of their son. Neither side requested consolation money during divorce talks. Okazawa has already moved out of their Tokyo apartment.

Meanwhile, Hirosue's acting career is picking up, as she has been cast in Yojiro Takita's "Okuribito" (due out this fall) and Kazuaki Kiriya's "Goemon" (early 2009). She has also reportedly been given a role in a television drama for this summer, but details were not revealed. In addition, she has signed commercial contracts with 4 different companies.
