Bud-nipping may not be worth the time in this case.. I'm not sure. Any suggestions of some effective method to implement it?

well, we can add a button - <Report to moderator> or something will notify mods to delete a particular vote/entry...

That seems reasonable. It sounds like a good generic feature to report duplicate threads or whatnot by pinging various mods of the problem... :)

Why can't we vote for more than 9 actors?

what happened to the idea of
making a ranking of ppl in this forum based
on their # of posts.

i think it was suggested last yr. i guess

zchendevlemh:
Look at the main page.. "view user statistics"
http://jdorama.com/statsuser.htm

Omega Rugal:
There has to be a limit somewhere. 9 is just a number I chose coz its easier to display. Aesthetic reasons :P

The rest:
Report to moderator button may clutter up the page alot.. especially if its gonna appear in many places. A typical page displays quite alot of information. We can't have the report to mod thingy appearing too much when its just a rarely-used button.

hmm, if 'report ot mods' wont work, another way we can curb bad votes (i.e, voting GTO as best horror) is to have add a genre column to our drama database kind alike with ANIMENFO. The obvious downside is that w'll have to assign genres to all the dramas we currently have. The upside on the other hand is that its easier to pick a drama based on genre. an example would be if GTO is assigned a genre of comedy, drama, romance, and has a vote of 200, then a search for top comedieswould show GTO but a search for top horror would not.

anyway, it will tkae a lot of work to update the dramas since we got so many listed already so it may not be worth it. Just a thought...

User statistics are just for information purposes. Not for competition!! Well, for some related reasons, that page wasn't in such a conspicuous location.

For database genre update... its very difficult to classify them. For some dramas, we have very limited information. Few people have such info. As such.. its not very useful to have an incomplete database of this genre field.

For those who buy or trade dramas, how about an addition to the section called: Drama Listing

Right now it has

Details
synopsis
Sound track
Actors
Reviews.

You could add, I'VE GOT IT, and anyone who is willing to sell or trade that particular drama can list their name.

The person looking for that drama could then pm or email anyone on the list to see if they can set up a trade or a buy.

It wouldn't take up much space since people would only be putting in their names. And it would save a lot of time that's now spent tracking down everyone's individual lists, and then combing each list for the show you're looking to get.

It might also be more inclusive since many (myself included) don't have their lists posted anywhere.

Perhaps you could put a limit on how much a certain user/IP can vote for a certain genre or drama. That should help keep the spamming to a minimum.

not necessary

I would love to see an 'ignore' button to skip post by certain ppl.
I have seen it in various other forums, and when used effectively it has great added value. Plus it seems to work/go well with most people.

Or you could just ignore this post (as i just installed the new opera, and i'm trying it out to see how it works with BBS boards, in the past opera has had trouble with Jdorama.com, and other messege boards but so far this new release is pretty stable.) still an ignore list would be sweet.

damn spoke too soon, once again with opera when u click on the emoticons or any of the button tags it freezes, (even 'submit' freezess it) oh well back to firefox =(

Ignore lists? On THIS board!? IMO, ignoring certain people is pretty childish. NOTHING gets solved that way. Just handle it in PM, that's what it's there for. And if gets really extreme, you can always petition to ban someone; which I don't think would happen on this board unless the person was spamming. Just my 2‘.

see if we had that ignore functon, i would've already put you on it! LOL JK!

well that's one way of looking at it, another would be that when conflicts arise, you could just put that person on your ignore list and you wouldn't have any problems like that in the future. or if you felt uncomfortable with someones post, say you found them offensive, other might not. so insted of post on the boards and hurting their felings, you could just ignore list him/her and you wouldn't have any confrontations to begin with =D IMPO, other boards can make it work and the hostilaty level lowers, why not jdorama?

and i'll take your 2cents good sir.

How about a Google-powered search for this message board? The existing search engine leaves much to be desired... :)
