From Tokyograph:

Ayumi Hamasaki deaf in left ear
Sun, January 6, 2008 (6:19am EST)

Fans of pop star Ayumi Hamasaki were surprised on Friday by a post on her fan club website revealing that the singer has gone completely deaf in her left ear.

Hamasaki mentioned that she had her ear checked last year. Her deafness was confirmed, and doctors said her condition was not treatable. The loss of hearing had started as early as 2000, when it forced her to cancel several shows.

Hamasaki said that she will continue her singing career as long as she can still hear with her right ear.

so here's my lovely half-deaf-diva's new PV, Mirrorcle World

it's soooo good!!

dang it's frekin' good song and a freakin' good PV. man she's the best japanese singer the japanese has ever had IMO.

anyway, she's also the artiste with the most successful plastic surgery i've ever seen :beaten: . believe it or not she looks like someone in her early 20s in that PV. especially with the new short haircut

True say! I love the song and PV is beautiful. She must have some crazy budgets for her videos, man.

She looks so not Ayu on the cover of that magazine XD I like Mirrorcle World, the vid is quite stupid, but the song is nice. GUILTY was a good album, since I hated Secret. XD Though I've been a fan from the release of Depend on You until Secret. Her new singles are good again though :woot:

Ayu regained her sense of hearing ? sounds weird but it's a good news to her fans.

Ayumi Hamasaki (rumoured to have) regained sense of hearing
April 9th, 2008 by sunveria

Mainichi started off by reporting on her concert held on the night of 8th April 2008. During the encore almost 12000 fans sang gWhoch in unison as a surprise for Ayumi Hamasaki. She was very moved and shocked, covering her mouth with her left hand and had tears streaming down all over her face until staff brought her some towels with which she could wipe them.

There is a part of that song which goes:

‚±‚ê‚©‚ç‚à@‚¸‚Á‚Æ‚±‚̉̐º‚ª@‚ ‚È‚½‚É“Í‚«‚Ü‚·—l‚ɂƁcB

which means roughly hand from now on Ifd like to always reach you with my singingh, and is something that Ayu had mentioned even after news of her losing her sense of hearing in one ear. This time round however, it was her fans who wanted to reach out to Ayu with their support through their voices.

Some authorized source said that he/she did not know the extent to which her ear has recovered, but that it seems like she has regained some of her powers of hearing. Entame noted that there have been doubts raised in the cybersphere

It was an exciting experience to see and hear Ayumi Hamasaki, Japan's best selling female artist, singing in front of me ! Not only was ayu's performance and the stage great, but the audience were so nice ! Dancing, and screaming with fans is way better than watching DVD alone at home. The concert was about 2 hour long, but I still felt the time has gone so fast.

I was surprised that Ayu also spoke some Chinese she just learned, like "Da jia hao (Hello all)," " xie xie ni men (Thank you)." She speaks very well in my opinion. :hehe:

Who... she changed the chorus lyric from Japanese lyrics to Chinese lyrics ! wow !

After a year, I was very pleased to be able to attend ayu's concert this year, ASIA TOUR 2008 `10th Anniversary` in Taipei ! yeah ! :woot:

I had a better seat than last year, in the third row, very close to the stage. So I can even see her face clearly ! That was unbelievable !

Ayu got cold recently, so her voice was not at her usual level.
But I could feel she did her best to make her performance perfect. :applaud:

Overall, it was better than last year. I like the songs, and the way they arranged. Taiwan fans were passionate and enjoyed the show...so do I. :victory:

Hope I'll be able to attend her concert next year !

Hirayama Aya has acted in a number of drama including Fighting Girl. This stylish actress is slowly getting recognized for her exellence in bringing the different "type" of character. Expect more from this young rising star in the future.

Sorry for long overdue, but...

Ayumi's releasing a new single Sunrise/ Sunset ~Love is All~ August 12

Ayu has the most consecutive #1 singles for an Oricon soloist. Now she's competing for that with a group with the most consecutive #1: B'z.

Show some support for Ayu! Hope she makes it to the top this time!
