But it's true though :P Look at it, she was already kickass in Battle Royale, but still managed to improve every time she was in front of a camera.

Though... I think she's mumbling too much when having an interview. Sometimes I just don't understand what she says.

that's good that you can understand Japanese, how long have you been learning it? makes me want to learn it more and more, if these j-dramas didn't have the subs, i would be so damn clueless. :hehe:

no i'm not trying to convey that i've acquired any decent level of proficiency....i studied japanese for two years but that was 10 years ago...it's amazing that i remember any of it...actually watching japanese programming has helped me tremendously to keep what i've learned and taught me the occasional thing or two...when i went to japan just listening to ppl talk was, of course, a tremendous help and even in the span of a several days i felt my listening comprehension improved markedly. but i have seriously been mulling over whether to start studying japanese again...i can carry very simple conversations but dat 'bout it.

yeah but they hype that shiet too much....that ionization effect that purportedly cleans the air creates potentially harmful amounts of ozone which can seriously f*ck up your respiratory system...just go with a normal hepa filter....i used to have one from Bionaire....that shiet worked very well...i used to smoke a lot of cigarettes and when i'd come home after work or after having the unit on for a while i truly did feel and notice the air was cleaner...so it makes some noise but it wasn't a deafening death trap or anything.

i'll steer off topic just briefly...from CNN/MONEY MAGAZINE (Apr. 2005)

The magazine, hitting newsstands on Tuesday, said that Sharper Image's Ionic Breeze Quadra Silent Air Purifier and four other similar air purifiers fail to significantly clean the air -- some can also expose users to potentially harmful ozone levels.

Consumer Reports said it tested ionizing air cleaners for ozone levels and for their ability to remove dust, cigarette smoke and pollen from the air, and Sharper Image's Professional Series Ionic Breeze Quadra SI737 SNX is one of five products that was ineffective as air cleaners.

Four other models included Brookstone Pure-Ion, Ionic Pro CL-369, IonizAir P4620 and the Surround Air XJ-2000.

The magazine also said that people with asthma or respiratory allergies are especially sensitive to indoor ozone, an irritant that can worsen asthma, deaden sense of smell, raise sensitivity to pollen and mold, and may cause permanent lung damage.

The May issue is being published only two months after Sharper Image agreed to pay Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, $525,000 in legal costs after a federal judge dismissed a libel lawsuit alleging the publisher printed false information in an October 2003 article about the Ionic Breeze's ability to reduce airborne particles.

"It is astonishing that Consumers Union would continue its misguided efforts to attack the judgment and experience of millions of Americans who are satisfied with the performance of the Ionic Breeze products," Sharper Image's lawyer E. Robert Wallach said in a statement.

But Consumer Reports said it stands behind its findings.

The magazine told CNN/Money that "it is ludicrous to suggest that Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, 'attacks' consumers." "(We) stand by its testing and reporting on air cleaners, (and it) has provided its expert, independent assessment of several air cleaners that claim to trap charged particles on oppositely charged plates."

oh, i know about that... i've used mine (3rd on warranty) for over 5 years now, and it works super for odors, that's all I really need it for. My room is still pretty dusty, esp when i leave the windows open, like i do now.

as for harmful ozone... well, i can only say that ozone should degrade to regular o2 at some point... but i'd be hard to tell whether it's the things i smoke or the Breeze that's the root cause. If i quit smoking, i wouldn't need the Breeze anymore. ;)

Kou Shibasaki and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (SMAP) will play in the remake of the japanese disaster movie 'Nippon Chinbotsu' (The submersion of japan/Tidal wave) which released in 1973.

This movie is based on the sci-fi novel 'Nippon Chinbotsu' of Sakyo Komatsu.

Kou Shibasaki will play the hyper rescue soldier Abe Reiko and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, the submarine pilot Onodera Toshio.

The shooting will start at the end of August

so have you retained a good amount of your knowledge of Japanese, writing, reading, and speaking. Two years of Japanese is good. i also found that by watching programs and the visits to japan and using the language(i used very very very little, only from a phrase book) and by observation while in Japan, i picked up some. I think it would be a good idea for me to learn more since i want to teach there, eventually.
it would be useful to know some, atleast on a conversational, basic level in japan, since most people don't speak english, even in Tokyo, maybe some broken simple english. I got lost there so many frick'n times, thank goodness for the phrase book and helpful(mostly) japanese people.

i would say i have a fair retention level of listening comprehension and speaking, but my reading and writing skills are poor...i've never practiced them...and i forgot almost all the kanji i learned...

i'd say three years of study would be good...two is not enough unless you are in a seriously intensive program but that usually requires time and diligence that is beyond most ppl...but then again it depends how badly you want it...if you want it badly enough you'll make it happen...i mean if you go to a class and after months and months you come out still talking like a japanese preschooler that's not worth it.

thought of getting a simple workbook from the local bookstore, but not sure how worth that would be, better than nothing, i suppose. Japanese basic conversational skills would have been useful last year while vacationing in Oahu, two young j-girls on the beach. The only thing i did was take a photo of them with their camera, and a short conversation. I didn't want to look like i was flirting with them... :hehe: , I wanted to be a gentleman to the girls.

now back to more kou,
posted this one earlier, but this one is my current favorite of Kou, she is just so beautiful here! :smitten:
