Sorry guys. I saw this thread but haven't located an appropriate thread to merge it to.
Currently am pressed for time so I will move accordingly when time permits. If anyone has any suggestions, please advise. Would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Isn't there a thread for WinMX and/or downloading BTs? I think either one of those threads would be appropriate... :)

This thread called "WinMX dying??....or is it just me?" might help:

Thanks Mixx.
Installed it, however it won't connect. I wonder if I installed it wrong?

router issues?
12 Oct 2005, 02:57 #71
I'm not really sure what the problem is.
It doesn't connect. It just says "Connecting.."

confused a bit, after picking a unique user name, and following the steps to install it, it asks to test it out, must've not work on testing connecting due to firewall...?

how do you get this thing connected and started? :bonk: :headscratch:

That's the same problem that I've been getting too.

if you guys are behind a router, check to see if the proper port #s are open.

Computer illiterate person here....

How do I check the port #? :beaten:

It depends on which router (if any) you own.

No router. Only my DSL modem.

If you're using XP with Service Pack 2, then you need to configure your Windows Firewall.

Start->Control Panel->Windows Firewall

Under the Exceptions tab, there is an "Add Port.." button. Except I haven't used this yet since I have a Linksys router.
13 Oct 2005, 11:59 #79
I uninstalled the Service Pack 2.

Hmm, well then that's changes everything... ;)

That's weird then, without a router you shouldn't have port issues...I did hear that Winmx was shut down not that long ago. Unless this new version is somehow going around it.
