this isnt related to me whatsoever but since we need more 'love-drama' in real life discussion, lemme bring u this.

what if 1 day ur love one approached u & asked how would u feel if he/she would like to fulfill his/her lifelong dream of being of service to god, in short go into priesthood/sisterhood, convent/seminary or anything of that nature, how's ur reaction be like?

knowing full well she/he loves u a whole lot, would u try & talk ur partner out of it for ur love's sake? or be supportive & let them go with god? what if u try & fight for ur love, would u be in competition with the god?????

sorry i hope i dont offend anyone by mentioning 'god' all the time, since we all have different religiouns, pls. dont bash me.. even if ure not religious, but what if your lover is?

This is gonna be a hard question to asnwer..and I bet u'll get many diffrent asnwers with many different arguements.

As to what I would do. At first I'll definately be against it, but hopefully I'll love the other person enough so that I'll get over it and support her. B/c if u don't then IMO that wasn't true love to begin with.. But, then I guess I'm being too optimistic, that's just me. :)

what the heck?..... i saw this in a movie b4....hang on let me think about it.... k?

Marecore said it best i guess... if it was their true calling to become a priest/priestess then you probably weren't meant to be. It's a harsh thing to think about, this one person may seem so rare to you (well me at least  ) but the laziness in me tells me that i shouldn't have to know which events are changeable and unchangeable then try to fight the changes in life.... I really hate giving this advice because i'm in the proccess of giving up someone special to me almost for the same reasons mixx, are you coming from a personal problem here?
31 Jan 2004, 23:01 #5
nope im not going through this problem, it was actually from my friends point of view, her bf wants to become a priest, theyve been going out for a month now and thats her first love and theyre both catholics btw.. of course i already told her that it hurts to let someone go but u cant hold someone back from what they love to do, so i guess support the guy.. thats my opinion, but then id like to hear what others' point of view is like.. and loveless no jokes onegai k

Ne well me personal point a view...If u love someone U'll give and not take...If u love someone and dat someone is choosing GOD u as da one love him/her should respect his/her choice...and support da decision..

Seeing alot of Jdrama when One of the couple tell their partner they fell in love with another one and they wisely respect that Even I think it is hurt ne

ok i remembered.... it was an anime it was called ... "A TREE IN THE SUN"
anyway in that show the main guy's gal goes to a nunery but he tries to marry her.. but she's uneast about it because he's a samurai and kills ppl.... so the dude ends up dying...
ok enough of that
what i would do is.. if i REALLY loved her i would try my hardest to keep her with me... if that didn't work (i'd try to get her pregnant... HAH! good luck getting into a nunnery when ur pregnant!)..jk i would let her do what she wanted... but i would visit her EVERY WEEK FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! ...just so i could see her atleast

ure very persistent.. thats almost close to shot gun marriage, but getting them pregnant first  i dont think she can go to sisterhood when shes pregnant anyway lol.. (unless shes not catholic) but thats what i think

At first, I would try to talk them out of it. But if all goes to no avail, I would tell them to just do whatever they "wish" and I'd do my own thing.
Even though it may "hurt" a little/a lot, if that's what they want to do, then hey, who am I to argue with them???????
It's their life, and I ain't no authority figure to them whatsoever.

-Besides, going back on the "rebound" brings many more opportunities to "score" (which your "ex-partner" wasn't going to give you after he/she commited his/her life to "God")!!!!!
And (for a guy), isn't "scoring" the "sweetest sin"???!!!! :hehe:

(A guy's got his needs. A woman [fka partner] commiting to "God" is not going to help this in the least bit)

erm..i guess i'll hold him from goin..
coz i dont really believe in god..
1 Feb 2004, 17:02 #12
good point :hehe: but even if u dont believe about god or any religious matters, wouldnt u feel selfish or guilty for holding back from their dream?

aho has a good point too~ i guess being a guy, wanted to be a priest would probably be harder? i mean since guys are more into sex than we are or something lol... (from what i see ok.. i could be wrong) but then again, its also hard to us girls too.. we wouldnt feel that love-filled in need in our lives..idk.. i guess both genders are about the same hard situations.. i think those who only passed are very committed and had decided this from a long time, cuz otherwise if its just a 1 day thought, its possible that it might not work out.

thanks for the answers guys, but dont stop posting, keep 'em coming.. these are pretty interesting point of views~

yup same here (god shmod)... that's what i would do...
but really its foolish to think u tell a person what to do... but we can dream can't we? and its a hell of alot better than just 'giving up'

hey, FIRST post:

If my gf would come up with that topic I would be shocked, though I would try to understand her. I dont think thats an easy or last-minute decision and so I wouldnt try to stop her from doing it. To choose a life with God doesnt mean that u'll never see her again, does it!?
3 Feb 2004, 05:37 #15
are u talking to me? lol i have a name u know

i never said it was an easy and fast job, but this where u have to decide too, incase if you decided to let her go, and ure asking if ure still gonna see her? of course you can, im not really the person to answer that for u, but ur gf/bf to tell you how long they will be in a convent or whatever how many days spend for training, if you guys remain friends then its all good.

loveless, yes u can dream and its not a problem of not giving up, but if nothing can really change their minds cuz thats what they love to do then just respect that.. i also have another guy friend who wanted to become a priest but once he got together with this girl he didnt want to anymore.. i really thought that was dumb, just to use god as an excuse cuz he cant get a gf, but with this guy (my friend's bf) hes really into it and idk whats going on with them right now...........
