*sigh.. total hatred for Dell Servers right now. Had a power surge at work, that caused a power outtage so we had to run on battery. When the battery died, the ungraceful shutdown pratically corrupted every single Dell Linux Red Hat box we had. EXT3 sucks.

None of our solaris boxes had this issues....

1 week of work out the tube. Well... almost.. managed to recover the stuff.

Answer, "I don't know" I ask, "Does (customer's name) live there?" Answer, "Yes, but she's not home right now" I was really tempted to say, " I'm going to cancel your DSL because obviously you're too stupid to know how to operate a computer!!!" :beatyou: [/list:u]

The person that answered said, "Just a second" This other person comes on the line, I ask, "Is this (customer's name)?" He answers, "There's no one here by that name" and hangs up! What the hell was that first guy thinking ?!!? :beatyou:

Man, that sucks. :bleh:

Does EXT2 have that problem too? I'm using it and I don't have a UPS.

Nah, I haven't been to school in over a year. Oh well, at least I make $90 for this and I'm not restricted to the house  No calls tonight but the season is changing and people are going crazy.

I wouldn't doubt it. EXT3 is simply EXT2 with indexing. Problem IMHO is that it doesn't have atomic writes.

I just came from a job interview...it was one of those role playing kind of

interview. It was much simpler than i expected, so much so that now i'm

having doubts about how i performed :fingerscrossed:

On the train back, i thought of answers i didn't give but should have :beatyou:

Oh well at least i have a job right now if that's any consolation.
2 May 2006, 01:33 #2292
They gave me a $1 raise.

:puppydog:

I guess beggars can't be choosy..
2 May 2006, 01:34 #2293
WOW. i think my last raise wasn't even 50 cents... though i did have a large one before that.
2 May 2006, 03:25 #2294
Wow. Still better than me. It looks like if I want a raise, I'll have to steal the office furnitures and sell them. :hehe: j/k ;)

Happy workers' day!

Most of the times an interview is just to know you a little better. If you're going to fit well with the others. You should be ok. :say_gdluck:

Yay! I was just informed that I submitted the winning name for our next-gen workstation GUI. $100 for me. :victory:

Maybe they should have offered you a choice, $100 or a free tank of gas
2 May 2006, 06:07 #2297
a tank of gas would only last me 4 days... even after the $100 gets taxed (it will be i just heard), i should get at least 2 weeks of gas outta that. :beaten:

Yeah, so a few people whos entries didn't get selected are ALREADY talking $hit... it's been less than an hour since the announcement.

and the talk of the lack of creativity comes from the group who decided to name our servers after "Duck Tales" cartoon characters and their workstations after the CARE BEARS.
2 May 2006, 07:20 #2299
Duck Tales and Cares bears... :bleh:

I prefer using idol names.
