Yesterday's gripe:

I'm 15 (!) minutes from leaving the office and the Veep comes by and starts a goddamn conversation with me... I've been at work for 8-3/4 hours and he decides he need to talk to me in the last 15 minutes... I guess he was sleeping in the office the other 8 hours. :shakehead:

The insanity continues.

I feel your pain. The only time my boss comes to talk to me is at the end of the day...

Not for my boss. He has NO clue. He'd fail Business 101.

OK...now you got me started:

He was recently promoted to a manager level position in April. He's been interviewing people for some open positions here, and a few of my friends applied. It took him forever to conduct interviews, etc... Now part of that is our company, since the process is very bureacratic (going through HR)...but then he's getting ready to call people and make decisions.

He tells one of my friends that he'll give her an answer "by Friday". Friday comes, and he calls her up and says "you know what...I thought you were an internal candidate - but now I realized you're not and I don't have your application. Did you ever fill one out?" Of course my friend hadn't...but I mean he's gotten her resume and interviewed her and he doesn't know where she works and whether she's internal or external? Hello?!! A few MONTHS go by and now she finally got an offer, etc...

My other friend in line for another position has been in touch with him back and forth for several months now - he's never given her a firm yes or no answer. The last time I talked to her, she tells me that my boss spoke to her in person and told her about his entire philosophy regarding hiring.

He tells her that when he makes an offer to a candidate he doesn't tell any of the others no until everything is final. That way if the offer is rejected or falls through he can move on to the next one. He told her during this discussion (and through the course of other discussions) that he's made some offers to other candidates, some of which have been rejected, but he may consider her if they don't work out. I.E....he's letting her know that she's like 5th in line, but may still get the job if the others don't work out. What kind of Hiring Manager tells the candidate that kind of inside info?!! He has NO clue!!

I'm no expert (me not a boss), and I'm not speaking from experience here (END of the day? My boss's seeming talking to me THROUGHOUT the day, bwwwahhaha :hehe: ), but, I'm reading the above accounts, and, I'll make a Sherlock Holmesian deduction here . . . MAYBE when ya'll's guys bosses (a California thing, exclusively? No? Probably not?) do that kinda' thing, they're testing your elasticity? See how you react to, admittedly, sorta'/kinda' "uncomfortable" situations. Trying to consider how you'd fare with regard to, say, future projects that'd lead to promotions, more money? No? Those accounts ARE sorta' odd, and maybe they're SUPPOSED to be odd, as most tests or exams are. No?

What you're saying might be true usually...but not my boss. He's VERY disorganized, has no idea what anyone is doing. He's new at his job and it shows BIG time.

What a dork...! ...Can't you see that his ineptitude makes him a perfect boss??

AHAHAHAHA.... Incredible... He's inept, indecisive, and clueless... Pefect management material.... :applaud:
