So do I :hehe: .Well I don't really know the details, Ri kouran is a chinese girl from shanghai who succeeded her life in Japan, as a singer. I do not know the exact period of history. Gotta search in encylopedia when I have time.
Ri Kouran is a JAPANESE, not chinese. She was born and brought up in NE China though. However, as many Chinese at that time (before and during WWII) also thought that she was a Chinese (you see how good her Chi. is, that's why aya has to put a lot of effort in practising chi.), she was almost sentenced for betraying 'her country', China. For details, you may refer to the site below:

To the real Ri Kouran, she loves both Japan and China. Therefore, how to show the contradiction in Ri Kouran's heart during that period will be one of the most important parts of this drama.
Another lady with similar and special fate of Ri Kouran is Kawashima Yoshiko (she has the same name with Ri Kouran, who is Yamaguchi Yoshiko). She is a CHINESE (in fact, she's a princess of the royal family), but was brought up by a Jap. general. She was finally executed as a spy. This role will be played by Kikukawa Riei‹eì—àj in the drama. Here's some info about Kawashima Yoshiko:

When I was in junior secondary, I also mixed up the nationality of these two ladies. Until there's a local film about Kawashima Yoshiko and a film show about Ri Kouran many years ago, then I know I was wrong.
