I try not to think how much I've spent on building my collection...

OK, collection comparison time! Everyone post what they have - say what's your favourite, most expensive, rariest and what you would like to have. I'll start...

Fuji TV Super VIP Presents the Complete Ueto Aya
Ueto Aya - Clips vol. 1

Ueto Aya in Install
Ace wo Nerae! Boxset (super expensive!)
Ace wo Nerae! Special
Hitonatsu no Papa e Boxset (super expensive!)
Azumi Deluxe Edition (JP)
Azumi (UK)

(I want the new Azumi 2 making of, the Install Collector's Edition and Clips vol. 2 - going to be poor!)

CDs:
Aya Ueto - AYAUETO
Aya Ueto - MESSAGE Limited Edition
Aya Ueto - kizuna Limited Edition (single) (just won on eBay)

(I still need to get Re:! All the Z-1 singles are pretty rare and mine are also still brand-new and sealed. I just need Vibe! School Days Mix for the complete set of all Z-1 CDs :woot: Then I can start getting all of Aya's solo singles ;))

Ueto Aya 1st Artist Book - Message

Calendars:
Aya Ueto 2003 Calendar
Aya Ueto 2004 Calendar - One More Smile

Posters
AYAUETO album promotion poster

Ai no Tameni single promotion poster
Pureness 1st Live Tour promotion poster
Pureness 1st Live Tour DVD promotion poster (missing!?)

(Unfortunately, most of my Aya promotion posters were ruined when a (ex)housemate of mine stumbled into my room and sat on them. :argh: Needless to say, I don't live there anymore  I think I had more, but they seem to have disappeared, probably when moving out - I left in a hurry)

Movie Flyers
Azumi v1
Azumi v2
Azumi 2
Install v1
Install v2

Misc.
A huge folder of magazine cuttings I bought on eBay (I scanned most of them a while again and picflooded the thread for a week or so)

Azumi Cinema Programme (I want to get the Azumi 2 one!)

A nearly-mint copy of Satsujinsha -The Killers from Paraiso- on JP VHS - Aya's first film, shot when she was aged 13 (yes, she does speak English :)) - I'll transfer this and make a XviD when I get the proper hardware.

I think thats about it. Probably forgotten something. Plenty of stuff I've downloaded as well, dramas, TV shows and the like.

**Hits the jealousy button** You collect everything!! I just collect her music CDs - J-Pop Fanatic here - hint hint - lol

But that's insane indeed. I have none of her DVDs or posters other than Azumi. Your collection beats mine like badly.

Okay, my modest Aya collection (it was just 3 or 4 months ago when I first found Aya, so I haven't had time to get more yet):

DVDs
Azumi Deluxe Edition (japanese version)
First Live Tour (japanese version)

CDs
1st album: AYAUETO (taiwanese version)
2nd album: Message (taiwanese version)
3rd album: Re (japanese version)
Koukou Kyoushi Soundtrack (japanese version)

Posters
1st album (AYAUETO) promo poster
Life-size Aya poster
2 Azumi posters (taiwanese)

And dramas etc. downloaded on my computer. I would get her dramas on dvd if there were subbed versions.

In the future I'll get at least Install Collectors edition and Azumi 2 (even if there are no subs) and 2005 calendar. And all of her music of course.

Actually I don't know what is cut, but since I love every second of the movie, it must be something important... Maybe Phinn can help you with this...

EDIT: added things I forgot before

That's pretty good for such a short time! I've been collecting properly since about this time last year.

Shurayuki-hime wrote:Actually I don't know what is cut, but since I love every second of the movie, it must be something important... Maybe Phinn can help you with this...

Well... I do have both versions - the original Japanese domestic release and the UK release which features the international version. Like Shurayuki-hime said, all the versions released outside Japan so far (afaik) have been this international cut. I haven't sat down and done a proper comparison (will do this week!), but it is not a cut for violence. AFAIK, 15 mins have been taken off in order to increase the pace e.g. less talking, more fighting.

Personally, I don't think there's enough character development as it is, so anything that reduces what there is, I would suggest, is bad.

Wow...I'd make sure to get the Japanese version of Azumi...although I need a region-free player.

They're going to release Casshern in the US...why not Azumi? Especially with the growing popularity of manga and anime.

J, try eBay... There's a reliable seller, cannibal-king (http://stores.ebay.com/Cannibal-King-DVD) who has both Azumi and Casshern.....

Yeah, but those are all bootlegs. :cursing: Bootlegs might be okay if there's no official subtitled version, but since the japanese dvd of Azumi (and Casshern) features english subs...

Yeah, though I'm not an anime fan myself, apparently. I only like the artwork here, which is what I'm apparently rooting for. Why not release more popular Japanese movies around the world as well?

Darn it - if they license Naruto though with some bad voice-acting, doing those awfully dreaded English dubs for those who are unfortunate enough to learn Japanese, they are going to pay. :banghead: :beatyou:

Looks like I've been Aya fan longer than I remembered. I checked my order history from cdjapan and my order for Azumi dvd was made october 1st. It took about a week for them to ship it and another week for it to arrive. So, officially I became Aya fan somewhere in the mid november 2004. That's 4½ months ago. Hmm, time really flies by fast with Aya. :D

But the kicker is it's Region 2.

I agree about the bootlegs, but if it's not available in R1 form, what can you do?

Having a Region-Free player is "illegal" too, if you wanna take a hard line about it.
2 Mar 2005, 10:35 #4055
Regions are mentally retarded anyway. There'd probably be less piracy without them.

I pretty much agree.

And if anyone's gonna gripe about bootlegging, they shouldn't be here trading fansubbed dramas.... Pot and the black kettle, ne?

Probably old news with the wedding video, but:

Quote from JapanToday.com wrote:"The ideal man for me must be gentle, kind to people, never give up, be warm-hearted, family-oriented, sports-minded and like kids."
Actress Aya Ueto, 19, on what type of man she'd like to marry, during a Q&A question after she modeled a gorgeous wedding dress at a fashion show by bridal designer Yumi Katsura.

Crap...I guess 5 out of 6 ain't bad.... Now I just have to take out Eltinator, Shurayuki-hime, and a few other Jdorama members....

You have to be quick because I'm going to japan next summer (hopefully). I'll ask Aya what she thinks about me. :naughty:
(and Eke, don't even start...)

Haha, you guys in the USA are really having hard time with regional encoding. In Finland getting past regions is the easiest thing it the world. You can ask the seller to take the coding out, or in some cases you can do it yourself. My friend has a player that reguires a four digit code and that lets you turn off the regions from player menu. The code is something like 0000. Myself I use Playstation 2 with 'dvd region x'.It's a totally legal supplementary that you can buy from the nearest shop (at least in Europe).

Whatever the MPAA and the industry may say, don't let them fool you - having a region free DVD player and importing DVDs is *not* illegal. Like Shurayuki-hime says, everyone in Europe who wants a region-free DVD player can get one if they want. Nowadays in the UK, you don't even need to tap in a code, it just comes ready modified out of the box from the shop.

TBH, I'd rather see people downloading films for free rather than buy bootlegs - the money you spend on a couple of bootleg DVDs could probably buy you a cheap region-free player :)
