"Shusuke Kaneko tackles AZUMI 2
http://fangoria.com/

This past weekend, three-time Gamera/one-time Godzilla director Shusuke Kaneko revealed to FANGORIA that he will be helming AZUMI 2. Back as the titular female assassin of feudal Japan is Aya Ueto, with a supporting cast that includes KILL BILL? Chiaki Kuriyama and BATTLE ROYALE II? Ai Maeda.

A follow-up to last year? AZUMI (pictured), directed by Ryuhei (VERSUS) Kitamura, the story begins soon after the events of that film, with the sword-wielding Azumi now pitted against newly installed Tokugawa government rival Masayuki Sanada (played by Mikijiro Hira). Azumi must battle and defeat Sanada? killer ninja squad in order to maintain national unity, lest Japan fall back into a fractured nation state.

Shooting cranks up this Thursday, April 15 in the city of Kyoto. The production will briefly move to Hiroshima before an expected wrap around the middle of June. The movie is scheduled for a January 2005 theatrical release in Japan. "

Region 2.

The DVD has a "security" feature to keep DVD players from different regions (the US is Region 1) from playing them. But there are players out there that you can hack via the remote to turn off the region feature on the DVD player...

Yup, exactly. I am also using a ps2 with an 'Action Replay' cheat, besides my dvd player, to bypass the region requirement.

Anyway, where's the usual Aya flood, ey?!
