I want to read it :shamefulcry:. I'm as broke as they come right now though. Spent my last $10 on discounted manga :shamefulcry:.

One day I'll post the cover of the Brazilian edition (well, the covers, the book here has two volumes ...)
bmwracer wrote:
Two volumes?? :headscratch:
Betsy Hayashi wrote:Yeah, and each one has about 1000 pages ...
bmwracer wrote:
The size of the books must be sorta small...
Betsy Hayashi wrote:No, they are the same size as the US version's one ...
bmwracer wrote:
Then the text size must be larger... And maybe double-spaced? ;)
Betsy Hayashi wrote:Hummm ... the text is not much larger ... And it's not double spaced ...
Maybe the translator here used a larger number of words than the translator of the US edition ...
Toranaga wrote:I was just watching the Seven Samurai the other day and I hadn't realized how many nods to Kurosawa's movie the first episode of Musashi has.
Just to mention four...
The testing; remember when Akemi and Oko lure one after the other to their house when they're trying to recruit strong samurai? Same happens in Seven Samurai, just that we only see one test.
The first Musashi-Akemi encounter; on the battlefield, when he finally wrestles he down and accidentally touches her breasts. Seven Samurai... Katsuhiro wrestles down Oshino, who's disguised as a boy and... touches her breasts. It confuses him too, just like poor Musashi.
The armor and weapons. Akemi and her mother had roamed the battlefields and plundered those. Now the peasants in Seven Samurai did the same, and they, too, lend the equipment to the seven samurai.
The final fight; it takes place in the rain; and before it Mifune's character Kikuchiyo sticks unsheathed swords in the ground, to have spare weapons if his no-dachi breaks. Now in Musashi? They place their weapons under a tree to have spare ones; not sure now, but I think I do remember the swords there being unsheathed as well.
Wasn't the name of the old samurai in episode one Kambei? I think it was, I'd have to check again lol. It definitely was the name of the leader of the seven.
Toranaga wrote:It was even... the UNCUT VERSION of Seven Samurai!!!
Just think...
German version of Seven Samurai: 140 minutes
UK Edition of said movie: 190 minutes
Something's wrong there!

This should add to your confusion: the Criterion release is listed at 207 minutes... :headscratch:
