Joo no Kyoshitsu earned a perfect score in the first week's test--but can it maintain that high standard over the next 10 weeks?

(Jul. 7, 2005)

I can't wait for all the episodes to come out so I can purchase the entire drama. I heard that it has cooked up quite a controversy and the producers have been receiving complaints for the evil portrayal of the Japanese school system... something about bad influence. But the scandal only made the rating of the show go higher. Yay! I want to watch this! :bonk:

From Yomiuri:

Tetsuya Chikushi will host a three-hour TBS documentary on Hiroshima, made in conjunction with the BBC, on Friday from 6:55 to 9:48 p.m. TBS will follow this up Aug. 29 with a drama starring Takako Matsu, based on the experiences of four siblings in the three weeks before the bomb was dropped.

Namida Sou Sou Project
Cast:
Matsu Takako, Kato Ai, Nagasawa Masami, Tomiura Satoshi, Tamayama Tetsuji, Kokubun Taichi (special appearance), Toshiyuki Nishida, Fukuda Aki

From the official website, the story is narrated by Toshiyuki Nishida's character at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. A story during the summer of 1945 (60 years earlier). At one time a row of shophouses and private homes lined the vicinity. That was where the Yajima family resided - four merry, close siblings who were orphans. Matsu Takako (Yajima Shinobu) plays the oldest daugther who runs the Yajima family inn after the death of her parents while looking out for her younger siblings - Kato Ai (Yajima Nobuko), Nagasawa Masami (Yajima Maki), Tomiura Satoshi (Yajima Toshiaki). Harsh, painful ordeals visit each of the Yajima siblings during the war. Their only brother is called to go to war. Days later the sisters see Toshiaki off at Hiroshima station...

Another Ito Misaki drama, this time during the golden hour. Her star is rising.

More info:

Ooku - Hana no Ran depicts the grand battles of the women surrounding Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth shogun, and Japan's most foolish.

Rina Uchiyama plays the tragic heroine, Yasuko, who enters the inner palace as Tokugawa's concubine despite having a husband. Norika Fujiwara plays Nobuko, the shogun's legal wife who shares an antagonistic relationship with a concubine, played by Eiko Koike. Filming starts in the last third of August in Kyoto.

I suppose Shosuke Tanihara will be acting as the Tokugawa himself.
