It's by accident that the Asian male is marginalized in Western society and it is reflected in their portrayal in the media. Places like Japan even does it to its OWN men, heh. All of this, while on the other hand, the "Asian woman" is said to be "exotic" and "fetishized"...

There are women in Japan infinitely prettier than her, but most Americans and Japanese have different views on what a good looking Japanese (or Orientals as a whole for that matter) looks like.

In Japan, I doubt that Lucy Liu would become a star. BTW, not because she is Chinese. There was an actress named Judy Ong who was fairly successful in Japan.

I think Devon Aoki is attractive (met her in '96 once at a 7th on 6 runway show here in NYC)... but DEFINITELY not a beauty in any traditional sense. My point was... that she CANNOT ACT.
