Harumi is Erika Toda, and she just got a contract for being the next Victor Koshien Poster Girl. This happened awhile ago but its all I could find.

As for the show I really liked it. All the kids were great. I don't think the Koyuki/kimura thing worked out as well as I hoped, but I don't think it was their fault at all. They were still great and I hope they are together again in a different show.

Glad to have another fan of Koyuki. Yeap she's simply elegant but she wasn't in her best style in Engine. They gave her a poor wardrobe & during the earlier episodes (1-4) even her makeup was bad. But I'm glad they spotted this and towards the end, she became our beautiful Koyuki again. But if you really want to see Koyuki in her best style, go watch Kimi wa Petto. She was a knockout.

The last part in the last episode showed Jiro racing again but this time as a rally driver. Is he still racing with team Ichinose? You see, I don't quite understand what the team boss said to him after he apologised for losing the race? Can someone enlighten me on this?

The Boss said he could pay him back with his future race winnings meaning he would still be a driver.
Jiro saying he wouldnt race was just because of the original deal
After all he "wouldnt even be a man if he wasnt a racer."
Since the Rally car had the same logos for Toyota on it Im thinking he was part of the same racing group somehow.

Thanks eve for the explaination. Yes, I really missed the series too. The pairing of Kimura & Koyuki was good eventhough at first it looked like a flop. But since I saw them together in the brief few moments in Beautiful Life (Koyuki was Takuya's ex gf), I was kinda of looking forward to see them together as leads. So when they were both in Engine, I was overjoyed but lo, it was a let down. i think their time together on-screen was much less than in Beautiful Life!!. Anyway, it was ok in the end. I want to see them together again in another drama.

Anyway, coming back to Engine, I think Kimura looked damn kawai in the racing suit, eh? While Koyuki did look sexy in her outfit, it seemed to be out of place for her character of Tomomi sensei since she was always seen in a simple T-shirt/blouse with a pullover throughout the series & in a business suit when she went to the church meeting. Then, wham in the last episode, they dressed her up in that sleeveless sexy outfit? So I was thinking, what - this is so out of character. But I ain't complaining since we got our beautiful Koyuki back. Loved her style & looks in Kimi wa petto and Beautiful Life, though.
