Yeah thats alot, but I heard it was a little cheeper during the Summer? heck I'd do anything to go! Anyplace but here!!! it's so boring.. The sucky part is I had good Holiday pay.. Almost bringing home $700 but then as x-mas went away, So did my pay... It sucks you can't just say i'm taking a vacation... You have to earn that time after awhile.

like most places, it's a LOT more $ to go during the summertime. My favorite place to buy ticket is:
IACE Travel . Reasonable and fast.

Wow! :google: I get my tickets in Hawaii for about $450-$500USD. In the winter time though. (Dec-Feb)

i like chiba prefecture. sort of a suburb of tokyo, but a lot quieter. still has a lot of the city in it, but lots of quiet areas too. been going there off and on for years. i have lots of relatives there. i'll be going there again this spring (if my boss will finally give me the time off!).

Tokyo in May, looking forward to it, 2 weeks; Might end up going to Kyoto and Yokohama as well, we'll see. Next trip is planned already as well, August 2005, Tokyo again with a jump to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

i would think in HI, it'd be cheaper than the west coast.
amrayu wrote:too bad you guys live on the east coast, i know 300-400 dollars takes me to the east coast of the US. :google: no offense, but i would rather go to japan.. lol.. last time i went it costed $500 to go to Tokyo and okinawa (roundtrip).
No offense taken, i'd fly oversea, too. and besides, you can drive anywhere in the continental US.
KouSeiya315 wrote:Damn right it's more! I paid about $830 after taxes and crap to fly from Philly Intl. to O'hare (1 hour layover), then to Narita in economy. That was round trip, of course. You can get there for less but even $830 is not bad considering it's *at least* 13-14 hours of flying from here, then 13-14 back. Due to a delay, it took me 18 hours to get to Narita :mecry:.
it also depends on when you fly. I remember going to osaka in december 31, 1999 (Y2K bug remember?) for $275 round trip!!! Man, no one wanted to fly on that day!
KouSeiya315 wrote:I would need to drag a friend with me  That's gonna be a task and a half because no way am I going by myself.
that shouldn't be too hard, who wouldn't want to go and experience another coulture with a friend?

I know somebody, my father for example, and a few other people *shakes head at them* I'd need more than just 10 horses to get my parents to Japan lol, or to the States, or even UK... *shakes head*

One of my friends would go.....but she'd have to rely on me for everything. Scary thought. She said she would like to, because it's different and I told her stuff from when I was there. I think we would have fun though. She also has a fascination with mullets, which would help her enjoyment of Japan, LOL  There's still lots to do for people that aren't totally into Japan's culture and/or don't know much. It wouldn't be anytime soon because the trip would be expensive. She has family in Italy, so I'd be like "You take care of me in Italy...I'll take care of Japan" because she speaks Italian and I don't. But I would want to see Italy and she's been there.

Most of my other friends pretty much find my interests in Japanese stuff strange (but unique), but they ask no questions and don't seem open to it. They pretty much ignore it unless a friendly crack is made at me or if they stereotype something Asian or ask me something totally random about something Asian-related. In some ways some of them are close-minded.

The prices I gave were higher because they were given at JAL's website.. However I live on the Eastcoast.. Given it's a 13 hour Flight From the West to the east coast :(

I can see myself already clinging to a door on the Tokyo airport yelling "I'M NOT GOING! I'M NOT GOING!" when we're supposed to fly back on the 23rd of May...

I'm not so interested in the mangas lol. I'm actually looking forward to meet my GF's family, aspecially her little sister, who's now 17 and my GF's 3 insane friends...

So if you read somewhere "Austrian tourist climbing the Tokyo Tower pretending to be Godzilla", that'll be me...

If manga is the only reason someone would have for going to Japan, they are really missing out on a lot.
