I'll definitely want to check this out.
Looks like both of us have a stake in this Taiga.

You are right about that. :)
Great photos, by the way man. Thank you.

No problem. :victory:
Rie Miyazawa doesn't look like a woman who just had a child! I think she gained a little weight, from her pregnancy perhaps, but she looks much healthier than I've seen her in recent memory.

Yeah, I think so too... She might've been a bit too thin in the past.

Totally. After recovering from her eating disorder, she never really regained the weight she lost as a consequence...until now.

Thanks! I'm going to check it out.

I hope the Taiga's more interesting than Atsu-hime... It failed to keep my attention, even with Miyazaki Aoi in the lead.

Oh yeah? I haven't seen a taiga in ages so I'm looking forward to checking this out.

I hear it's the same writer as the one for Atsu-hime, so I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
I just hope it's not a kimono fashion show like what Atsu-hime appeared to be (I lost interest after a number of weeks)...

"Kimono fasion show." :hehe:

I know Beem is excited because Juri is the lead and Tu is excited because of Rie's involvement, but I think the big news is Suzuki Honami's return to acting after an 11 year absence to raise a family. As you guys know, she was a big star in dorama during the 90's. I believe her last role before retiring was also in a Taiga--Genroku Ryoran in 1999 where, coincidentally, Miyazawa and Otake Shinobu also both appeared in; now all three will be in this upcoming Taiga.
Certainly the female cast appears to be a strong one. While Otake has been in quite a few dorama, she's really made her mark in movies (did you know she's won three Japan Academy Awards?) Suzuki Sawa is also a fine actress (she's great in the Aibou series and certainly held her own in the many scenes she had with Natsukawa Yui in Muri no Renai).
It will be interesting to see if Juri can be effective in a jidai-geki series. She has such a contemporary feel to her, it will be a challenge to see if she can be convincing in a period piece. I remember watching Nakama Yukie and Matsu Takako in jidai-geki roles and thinking how ill-suited they were in that setting.
Another big question is who will be the principal male actors? Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu are such larger-than-life historical figures--who's going to play them?

Your insightful commentary is always appreciated. :)
I'm sure acting out these period roles is a more challenging proposition than partaking in the average renzoku drama.
I hope our collective anticipation is satisfied with fine performances and competent storytelling.

Isn't that pretty much all that Ralph was gushing about, wasn't it?
I'm surprised there wasn't a runway and spotlights in the castle for the daily show. :hehe:

Yeah, that would be my observation as well.
And the flip side would be will the viewing audience accept her in a period piece for those same reasons... A lot of people still perceive her as Nodame.

What about Miyazaki Aoi in Atsu-hime?

Haven't seen that Taiga yet; not sure if I will.
I did enjoy Miyazaki's performance in Shonen Merikansack. However, playing the manager of a punk rock band is a lot different than playing the wife of a shogun. Plus, the storyline of Atsu-hime didn't seem very interesting to me.
