Grim Eyes wrote:Newbie onboard. Just started watching Doramas since Saturday and I cant get enough of it. These shows are of a totally different caliber when compared with shows from other countries.

Let me start of by saying that I personally hate soap operas. Whether its from Korea, China, Taiwan, Mexico, America, Argentina, Canada, and specially the ones from our country, the Philippines, I equally loathe them. Whenever I see one of those shows, I just want to gouge my own eyes out. Anyway, while looking for some Anime to watch on Youtube, I suddenly remebered an article I read in a magazine that GTO(Great Teacher Onizuka) actually had a live action version. Curious, I started trying to search for episodes of it. After I found out that someone uploaded them, I had this mixed feeling of both excitement and skepticsm. Would the live action version actually be as good as the manga and anime? Suffice to say, I was surprised that I actually enjoyed the show. In fact, I liked it so much, I watched the entire series from start to finish for 13 straight hours in a single day. After that, I started searching for more. Ive recently finished Gokusen (which, IMHO, was infinitely better than the anime version) and one of my personal favorites now, Densha Otoko.

The way they make everything from the acting, the cinematography, scripts, etc. is just simply amazing. I never imagined that I would actually like dramas this much.

I am currently looking for new titles and would like to see some suggestions. Im also looking for Youre Under Arrest!, so if anyone knows where I can get it, I would appreciate the info. Sorry for the long introduction. Ja.

Welcome! It's always good to see another Filipino on board. Haha, that's how many anime fans became jdrama fans... through GTO. It's an awesome show.

Welcome! :woot: I also just got into Doramas recently...I started with Gokusen and I'm currently watching Nobuta Wo Produce...hoping to watch 1 Litre of Tears next :)

woooaaahh!?!?! Tlg bang papalabas na Gukusen on GMA!?!?!

Fighto-oh! :applaud:

^^ cguro naman hindi magpaflop un noh...
Maganda naman ang story eh...
At saka cute naman ung mga cast...
Kaya papatok un for sure... :)

Uhmm.....did anyone here got into Tamiya mini 4WD racing cars? I was looking for my technical drawing kit at my cabinet kasi hinihiram ng pinsan ko yun, when I came across the drawer that I haven't opened for a long time. Nung binuksan ko yun, the drawing kit was there, and also my Tamiya tool kit with my racing car, Knuckle-Breaker Black Special :D . And when I saw it, I just remembered the days where I spent almost all my money just for upgrading and setting up this racing car for tournaments  .

Hehe wala lang, just sharing one of those Japanese stuff that became a big craze here in our country :bonk: .

And welcome to the thread to all the newbies! :woot:

Yeah GTO is still one of my favorite manga/anime of all time. I was glad that the jdrama version did justice to it. Btw, thanks for the recommendations link.

Fighto-oh!

*sigh*

Anyway, tulad ng sinabi mo,
Fighto-oh! :fingerscrossed:

Used to play as well. Man, those were the days. My favorite one was my Storm Cruiser. That thing was loaded with a LOT of weights, just to keep it from flying off the track.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Haha, I remember when those Tamiya cars were all the rage. I saw it on the news and stuff, but I never got into it.

Haha same here. But they put restrictions on having weights dun sa national tournament, that's why I was really forced to buy different engines and put different settings (bearings, wheels and other stuff) for different race tracks so that the car won't fly off the track whether I play on a technical or speedy course :P  .

Ah ganon ba? Sayang you missed the fun during those days. Nasa US ka siguro that time kaya hindi ka nahilig sa ganon  .

:hehe:

Hehe yeah, almost all the boys (even some girls) got into it.

Didn't get into it though :bonk: . But still, it was a big hit here.

^^ tell me about it..my dad who was around 45 at the time actually bought a track para may paglaruan sila ng brother ko.. made me realize that omigod.. boys will always be boys..kahit anong gawin mo.. :P

Ahaha, oh yah, I remember those Tamiya cars. Man, a lot of guys used to spend sooooooooo mcuh for that :hehe:

Another concern about Gokusen being aired on GMA, sana din wag nila palitan yung names nung characters like they do on most koreanovelas...shet, imagine Shin being replaced with Jim or some other name :usuck:

a tamiya...
my brother had lots of those. inubos ang savings para sa mga yun. and he'd go to all those competitions and shows they had which was like, every day ata. haha. then he suddenly got bored and just left them lying around the house. haay.. such a waste.

wait... may gokusen teaser ulit? whoa! sana matuloy na.. but i'm thinking.. is it gonna be a once a week thing? coz i can't imagine a single episode being segmented into around three parts. hmmn... mukhang malabo..i hope they don't cut even the somewhat violent parts. baka tanggalin nila. alam nyo na.. medyo takot sa mtrcb. at saka sensitive ang audience.

True :say_yes:

Well, QTV-11 kept the original names of the character (and even the theme song) when they showed Heaven's Coins and Golden Bowl. Not sure if GMA will do the same thing  ......but I really hope they would :fingerscrossed: .

About dun sa Gokusen, wala pang sinabing sked kaya hindi pa alam if they will air this once a week or in a daily basis.

I dont think Gokusen is that violent. Sure there are a couple of fights but unless they butcher Kumiko's lines, the shows message regarding violence would justify everything. What I really wanna see is how they translate her using Yakuza words. Its not like we have a similar type of criminal slang here. Heck, english subbers are already finding it hard to translate them without ruining the context.

As for segmenting the show.... I guess its possible. That would suck though... :bleh:

Ooh..yah, i think they might edit out some parts cus my friend told me na when they showed Mars on QTV, whcih had a lot of violent and sexually sensitive scenes, they cut out a lot parts...pero wag nman nga iedit ang gokusen...hindi nman kasi senseless ang violence sa gokusen... :woot:

Ei, May 1 na daw yung Gokusen...replacing Le Robe on GMA :) Holiday yung May1 ayt? yippeee!! i can stay at home to watch it ^_^

May 01

nood tayong lahat. please.

tell your friends na rin, and your neighbors too.

pwede ba tayo mag street team? spread the good news by word of mouth.
