Adachi's most successful work, made into 3 films and a 108-part TV series. The artwork is still of the earlier generation, but the storyline and sheer drama of the series hooks you in. The struggle of Tatsuya to come to term with his feelings and prepare to fight, even against his own brother, for what he loves is a enthralling one. High-energy dramatic baseball, filled with comedy and some genuinely memorable romantic moments, Touch is one of the best. A must-read for all Mitsuru Adachi's fans!

Highschool baseball/romance story, with two heroes and two heroines Kunimi Hiro a very good pitcher / Hideo Tachibana a very good batter, Koga Haruka / Amamiya Hikari. All names begin with an H, Hiro and Hideo mean or sound like hero, what explains the title. H2 is Mitsuru's lengthiest work and quite popular, but it is not his best work. Overall, Touch wins it from H2 easily on the basis of its better storyline and a lot more humour.

Rough is unique in that it features swimming, a competitive sport quite different from the baseball, softball and boxing that Adachi likes. And though the faintly Romeo-and-Juliet-esque tale quickly hooks you in, the plot does differ quite widely from that tragedy. Nothing is ever said until the very last minute, in typical Adachi fashion, and the ending is one of the most controversial ones, in that fans will either love it for its sweetness and subtlety, or hate it for leaving off where it did. A solid Adachi work, with plenty of love, rivalry, and drama.
