I think she was describing the house she lived in... She talked as if certain things were in certain locations in that lot... And I think I heard her say "kitchen..."

So maybe that lot was where her home was, but its gone now...there were buildings on either side...maybe it burned down...any relation to her mothers death...gomen, much speculation, unseemly on my part...

She was indeed describing her old home, the now empty lot. I heard her said things like kitchen (you were right), sofa, wall (partition) etc. And yes her mom died of cancer, although I didn't catch what type - I'm not even sure it was mentioned.
