by the way, Is juri appearing on the scene of Swing Girls that girls play at the river? I watched the movie some times, but I can't find her! even the ending credit scene that girls sing L-O-V-E at the river

She wasn't in either scene... Apparently for the reason Flame mentioned earlier...

Good catch... The pigtails are a giveaway. :applaud:
good grief.. thought i was nearing the 1000 post mark but i'd forgotten i hadn't started from the very beginning.. never gonna get through all these posts! :omg:
so many pages of ppl gushing over someone's post.. and the pics are long gone :P
now THERE'S an interesting face from Juri......
i don't think i would've known it was her if i didn't recognize the clothes she's wearing from another photo
btw.. i guess i kinda just popped up in here without any sort of intro. not that i think anyone cares.. but more coz it seems to be so quiet here:
i first discovered Juri couple years ago when i was checking out KimuTaku dramas.. came across Engine and was immediately taken by her portrayal of serious, cynical Misae.. especially in episode 8 of that show(in which she wore plaid btw :victory: )
google searches commenced.. and i aquired a copy of Swing Girls.. which i must've watched several times in the week that followed, and tried to show to everyone i knew. then i discovered a bootleg copy of Last Friends at a chinese video store.. all i knew about it was that Juri was in it.. mind blown. completely infatuated at this point. it was around here that i started lurking jdorama n d-addicts. next was Juri's trip to the Himalayas.. Ao Akua :rolly:.. then FINALLY Nodame.
so for me it was a crazy up n down loopy roller coaster discovery of her roles. and what i can say today is that lately i have been spending WAAAAAY too much time downloading anything Juri related that i can find.. and it's mostly going into 2 or 3 folders.. mostly unsorted.. with duplicates.. because who's got time to sort when there's so much more to grab??
i'm surprised that there's so much that hasn't been translated yet(that we're aware of?).. gonna be studying Japanese starting in January.. and it'll probably take a couple years.. but if by then stuff STILL needs translating.. i will give it my best effort. for us, i'd say that stuff is VITAL. so yeah.. wait for it : P
after Engine n Swing Girls.. i had an impression that there was something very unique/special/different about her.. and i think it was when i found out that she played her own parts on the sax.. i was just  i'm a sucker for musicality
nodame probably covered the broadest range of tone and emotions in her acting. after finishing the series.. taking a look back at the character of nodame.. i took to looking at her as a savant. like maybe she's living with some sort of high-functioning autism or something.. there was certainly something 'off' about her.. and obviously she was a musical genius. don't know if that's what they intended for the character, but it certainly made me see the show in a totally different light
loved the use of dummies(end of 1st movie :hehe:).. that show was pretty violent : P

If you ever watched any of the anime or read the books for Nodame, you'll see that the character is rather savant-like... Maybe a result of the abuse from that piano teacher when Nodame was a child, forcing her to be introverted and live in her own fantasy world...

i suppose i shouldn't find it strange that the topic never comes up.. i hear mental illness is still sort of taboo in Japanese culture

speaking of which.. in SunaNare.. Spoiler — click to reveal2 of the characters try to off themselves.. and they're not even put on suicide watch or given any counseling.. from what i could see in the show anyway(still don't know the cause of Linda's death)
