I'm starting to suspect writing and directing. My guess is if they chopped Atsu-hime down to a third of it's length, they could get rid of the Lizzie Mcguire-hime parts and concentrate on the Desperate Tokugawa Housewives parts which would require her to be more mature.

Having seen a larger variety of Juri-chan's acting, I could definitely see her making it work. It's all about the right poise and behaviour, and she's shown she has the acting chops for it. Or maybe I'm just under her enchantment. :sweat:
