Preview screening (stage greeting) of KVR is set to be in July 27th.

It says the actors and directors will attend. Maybe Juri-chan will fly back to Japan for a few days..

Cool... I guess it depends on her schedule.

Maybe, but I think he's underrated as a actor... He's more versatile than most.
I like Eita and I agree about his versatility, but somehow I think he lacks the charisma and he hasn't had a groundbreaking performance yet as far as I'm concerned. I would put him on the 'great' level, but not on the 'genius' level like Juri-chan. :)

LOL, that a great rant... And from what I've seen of him, it's true.
I recall Gene Siskel referring to Roger Moore as "a log of an actor" and I think Ryo falls in the same category. :hehe:
A log of an actor, how true.. :hehe:
Anyway, although I find it laughable, I don't have a problem with Ryo winning awards. What I do have a problem with is people putting his acting in Last Friends on the same level or higher than Juri-chan. I can understand the lasting impression a dark character like him could create. I also don't mind people liking his character better but opinion or not, when it comes to better acting, how can people be so blind? Really, I thought acting is so much more than just being outwardly convincing, but apparently not many people appreciate what good acting really is. gah! it pissed me off :beatyou:

Yeah, he's always been in the co-star/character actor role... His breakout role hasn't come to him yet, I guess.
But he's better than most, particularly those singers and pretty boys turned "actors."

Well, giving him an award is the "proof" to many that he is on the same level as real actors like Juri-chan... Which is why I find those awards pretty much laughable... :bleh:
I didn't give much attention to Eita at first, but the more roles I saw him in the more I became impressed. In Last Friends, he had to stand toe-to-toe with Juri-chan and he succeeded in being on equal footing, especially given how his character was written. In my opinion, he stole the focus of Atsuhime from Miyazaki Aoi, a very difficult feat as well. He is definitely not given the notice he deserves.
I didn't find Ryo's acting in Last Friends convincing or great because they was no convincing to be had. It was a carboard cut-out character. Saying it was convincing is like saying the actor who plays Jason in Friday the 13th is convincing; it's just a guy in a mask swinging a knife. Not exactly an incredible thespian feat. Somebody had brought up crying and how easy it is to perform. It's not; being tearful is. Last Friends actually brings up a few crying scenes which I think display the huge difference in levels of acting. Sousuke cries and every girl wants to comfort him, but who they really they wanted to comfort was Ryo. Michiru cried and no one gave a damn. Now when Ruka cried after her run-in with Sousuke, you could feel the pain and hurt she felt at that moment from having everything she believed in shattered. That was a testament to Juri-chan's acting and what a different level it was.

He wasn't even cut out: just a sheet of plywood. :bleh:

Good observation.
I suppose some could say it's actor bias, but like in the scenes you pointed out, there was clearly a difference in the emotional levels of those scenes...

They could say that, but I'd say the bias comes from her ability to perform.
I feel it's more than emotional levels. It's conveying what the character is feeling. That's what separates being tearful from actually crying. With Ruka, the pain Juri-chan expressed was practically palpable. You could feel her hurt and understand her pain. Sousuke's scene is still up in the air why he was crying even with an explanation. Now part of that was the writing, but tears dripping down a blank face doesn't give us much to interpret with. Michiru.......still don't give a damn.
^As much as a love seeing the pics, I hate them because they're a real teaser, they make me want to watch the movie asap.

It's not believable because people know that wood can't cry.
Michiru.......still don't give a damn.
LOL, yeah.
