I might have missed him if it weren't for your mention....because he normally speaks Yamagata-ben (Yamagata dialect), a rural dialect, but he didn't for his role here, for obvious reasons....he was pretty funny though...I'm telling you, the supporting cast was pretty good.

I'm sure you're right but it's not anybody I could point out off the bat.

It was also great that they actually filmed on location....some really great locations throughout Paris. And the comic graphics were a hoot, too.

Yeah, there were some great location shots... They seem to have made full use of their time in Paris. :victory:

Seriously. Nice change of pace from filming on campus, the apartment, and at hostess bars. :beaten:

Hello; new to the forums here, coming in search of all things Nodame Cantabile, and Ueno Juri

Well, I've been thinking about buying the DVD set of the series over the summer, once I've saved up enough dough, but having downloaded the 1280x720 raws from D-Addicts I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any plans for a Blu-Ray release of Nodame Cantabile. Seriously, the thought of seeing such an awesome drama in 720p or 1080p running at hopefully 60 fps has me excited, and if there were to be such a release, I'd gladly work more in order to buy an HD version (and by some luck, get Ueno Juri to sign the copy  ). I mean, having the raws is nice and all, but I figure the quality of those had to take a slight hit during the encoding process, and such a great series deserves my money (even if it'll be more than the ~$200 DVD version). Anyhow, any info on that would be greatly appreciated (and any HD material of Ueno Juri, doubly so).

Welcome, fellow Nodame fan! :woot:

I haven't read or seen any mention of any drama showing up on Blu-Ray, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist...

I purchased the box set last year from Amazon Japan and haven't regretted it one bit, though it has no English subs ( :beaten: )... But I have to say the the picture quality is pretty awesome, albeit only on a standard TV... I haven't picked up an HDTV set yet to try the upconversion/upscaling feature on my DVD player, but I hope it'll be soon... :fingerscrossed:

I can only hope there are plans for a high-def of Nodame, especially since Japan and U.S. share the same Blu-Ray region code, so I wouldn't have to worry about importing a player. Players are expensive enough as it is.

As for the standard DVD version, I may end up having to get that first and just hope for a Blu-Ray version down the line. I'm sure with a good upconverting player, the quality of the Nodame DVD would look pretty good.

Yeah, I'm itching to buy a 1080p HDTV, but the choices are tough... And I'm hoping the prices might drop further.

On the downside, what do I do with my existing TVs?

I guess I'll to buy a converter.... Or two.
