Making your dreams come true...

10 / 10

23 Jul 2007

Incredibly funny drama. Started off well and carried on at a good pace. Pretty nice soundtrack too. However, my only gripe was that the ending was a little disappointing. Didn't quite keep up to the standards of the rest of the show. It's highly recommended for its unique type of love story.

Incredibly gripping love story...

The most touching and heart wrenching drama I have watched. Absolutely gripping storyline. A beautiful style of directing from the drama, which is filmed from the view of a present 34 yr old Matsumoto Sakutaro reminiscing on his past and the loss of his one true love in high school, Hirose Aki, to leukamia in 1987. I thought Ayase Haruka and Yamada Takayuki were perfect for the roles. Great casting. The OST is also top class, and you could almost feel your tears flowing again just by hearing it. Really makes you wonder how far we have come in terms of medical science research since 1987. Highly reccommended~

Dr. Koto Shinryojo 2003 · Fuji TV

Great drama on dedication and compassion...

10 / 10

9 Aug 2004

I thought this was an excellent drama indeed. Not many mainstream stars in this show except Shibasaki Kou but there many pretty ladies anyway :P
This drama tells the tale of Dr Koto coming to an island to work only to find that the entire community doesn't trust him. He slowly but surely wins them over through his dedication and sincerity to the medical profession, as well as his affiable character which allows to relate to the people with ease. This has really nice drama theme based on compassion for others and understanding the true meaning of being a doctor. A light hearted drama overall, but gets a bit serious toward the end.
The theme song for this drama is also excellent. It really got me hooked onto it... Highly recommended!~~

Shiroi Kyoto 2003 · Fuji TV

Excellent and highly absorbing...

This is a brilliant drama. Start off slow for the first two episodes but then the story really picked up for the third episode onwards all the way to the end. Kept me glued to my TV indeed. The drama really shows you the "other side" of the medical profession.. the backstabbing, the bribes, everything.
The main plot focuses on the differences between 2 brilliant doctors in their own fields, Zaizen Goro and Satomi. Whereas Zaizen is completely ruthless and cold, he is nevertheless one of the best surgeons there is.. Satomi on the other hand is kind, unpresuming and would do anything to help the patients. Although they cannot see eye to eye, deep down they have real mutual respect for each other. Cheers to the 2 actors who brought so much feel and emotion to the characters.
Overall.. this drama triggered a lot of thoughts in me about the competitiveness in the workplace, ethics, friendship, over-confidence and the true meaning of justice. The song "Amazing Grace" fits this show really well as well IMO.

A highly absorbing drama!~~

Don't live life alone...

10 / 10

11 Jul 2004

Absolutely brilliant. Finished this in 2 days, and I haven't been so addicted to a drama in a long time. I'm usually not a great Shibasaki Kou fan, but she was really good in the film as the extremely talented but unfortunately deaf Sae. Tsumabuki also did a great job as Kai, the patient guy willing to bear with Sae's hot temper and shortcomings.

This drama's major plus is very very good and addictive storyline. Always want to make you watch the next episode without taking a break. Really makes you think that wanting to handle all your grief by yourself and to face the world alone maybe isn't the best choice that one can make in life... Also makes us feel how vulnerable we can be when we become different form the rest of the world...

Highly Recommended!~~

Excellent comedy with a magic touch!!~

Brilliant!~ Absolutely hilarious drama that is cute, romantic, heart wrenching all in one... Yonekura Ryoko really shines as Arisa, the witch who finds a special place in her heart for humans and wants to live with them. Naturally, she falls in love and marries one, Joji and the drama focuses very much on their family lives from dealing with the mother-in-law from hell to preventing Arisa's true identity from being revealed. Especially loved the character of the neighbourhood wife who screamed "Annnata!!! Taiii hen da youuuu!!!" whenever she saw something wierd in Arisa's house. Cracked me up everytime!! This drama has a very nice theme song to boot!!!~

This drama really makes you think how vulnerable human emotions really are, especially when they come up against a stronger being...

Nemureru mori 1998 · Fuji TV

Excellent Murder mystery drama...

Another gem form Kimura Takuya. A brilliant dark drama with many twists and turns along the way. The soundtrack used for this drama is EXCELLENT... more often than not the music sent chills down my spine as it accompanies the scene almost perfectly.. Kudos to the sound director of this movie. This is my first Nakayama Miho drama and I must say I like her quite a lot!! Great acting from her and Kimura to bring out the general dark mood of the show. The mysteriousness of Minako's past really glued me to the show. Always wanted to find out who the killer was. Yusuke was great in this one as well, his looks just seems so fitting for his wierd character. This one kept me hooked from start to end and deserves a 10 for the uniqueness of the ending... I still don't quite get why it had to end this way, but that's the beauty of the drama. Highly Recommended!!~

Tokyo Love Story 1991 · Fuji TV

The CLASSIC romance drama...

12 Apr 2004

This is seriously good. I was a bit unsure at first because of the age of the drama, but now I see why it is revered by all. IMO, this is the storyline inspiration for the spectacularly successful Love Generation, as a lot of similarities can be seen. SUPERB acting by Suzuki Honami as Rika in this drama, converting me into an instant fan. She is SOOO cute and vibrant in the show, always keeping her head up and never upset for more than a while. I really felt for her throughout the show, because to matter how hard she tried, Kanchi (Oda Yuji) never really warmed to her. Moreover, he was a complete jerk to her at times.. The theme song for the show was really brilliant as well as it suited the drama down to the T.

All in all, an excellent drama and a must for all to enjoy.

Hitotsu yane no shita Season 2 1997 · Fuji TV

Best family drama series ever.

10 / 10

5 Apr 2004

Together with Hitotsu yane no shita 1, they make the best family drama series IMO. In this second instalment, the Kashiwagi family returns with more intriguing and addictive storylines. Masaya (Fukuyama Masaharu) is away for about 60% of the show, but the show is still brilliant. Great acting by the cast, especially Noriko Sakai towards the end. Eguchi Yosuke as usual, does the part of the extremely sensitive brother well, and Matsu Takako was just SOOO cute!! The theme song used for the show is the same as the first, which I thought was a very nice touch as well. This drama will play through every emotion in your heart and will make you laugh/cry/angry/touched etc etc.. It is that good. The last storyline though.. my god.... It will glue you to the screen. All in all, Excellent stuff. Highly Recommended!!~

Deep, deep story with many twists...

22 Feb 2004

Wow this is brilliant!!! Great acting from Kimura, Sanma and Fukatsu.... The story is generally deep and depressing, but it's brilliant. The first few episodes are a drag I must say..but afterwards the plot just gets wonderfully superb. There are so many twists in the plot it's hard to keep up, especially at the end of most episodes...
Good to see Kimura Takuya playing such a mischievous character whos a total jerk to women... a nice change!! Wonderful drama. Highly recommended!!!

Childhood friendship at its very best...

9 / 10

15 Feb 2004

I like this very much. Matsu Takako is very cute in short hair. But then she's cute whatever it is :) This is a light hearted, easy to understand drama, with more than its fair share of touching moments. I was especially touched when Mizuho said she'll stay by Hachi's side forever, but he pushed her away instead!! I felt so much for her when she broke down afterwards... Great chemistry between Takako and Kenji, portraying the deep understanding between childhood friends really well. Highly recommended!!!

Summer snow 2000 · TBS

One of the most touching love stories...

9 / 10

15 Feb 2004

Really absorbing love story. Great acting by Hirosue Ryoko and Domoto Tsuyoshi in the roles of Natsuo and Yuki. Love the way Yuki felt so uninhibited about her condition whenever she was with Natsuo. But the ending though.... my god.. One of the best.

Beautiful life 2000 · TBS

True love that's beyond all boundaries....

10 / 10

18 Jan 2004

Beautiful life really shows how the insecurities a disabled person may have because they feel they are different for the others, despite the fact that everyone around them truly cares for them... A story of real love, where Shuji loved Kyoko no matter what she was or what condition she was in. Great acting by Kimura Takuya and Tokiwa Tokako, and the ending is top notch. This is the only drama that ever made me tear up. Highly recommended!

Yamato Nadeshiko 2000 · Fuji TV

Money really isn't everything...

10 / 10

7 Jan 2004

First of all I'd like to say kudos to Matsushima Nanako in Yamato Nadeshiko. She acted brilliantly as the poor girl determined to find riches through any means necessary. Also, the subtle feelings her character had for poor Osuke were expressed brilliantly as well. The main themes of the show is that money can't buy everything, especially the one and only most important thing in one's life, true love and happiness. You can see throughout that out of all the beautiful items and clothes her fiance gave her, her most treasured item was the cheap and burnt chameleon Osuke gave her. Very nice ending to an excellent drama. Highly recommended.

GTO 1998 · Fuji TV

Very funny and uplifting!!

6 Jan 2004

I bought this because it was no. 1 on the list, and my god it doesn't disappoint. A truly funny and inspiring drama, showing that YOU can make a difference in other's lives. I love the way Onizuka teaches the 3 girls that bullying the boy is wrong. I found it..unconcentional..so to speak. Highly recommended!!

Mukodono! 2001 · Fuji TV

Highly enjoyable!!

6 Jan 2004

Another highly enjoyable drama. Filled with very touching scenes and also very funny in places. I love it when he acts all cool YOSH!!~ and then when Sakura calls, claps boths his hands on his geeky face and yells out SAKURA!!~ This drama also makes you think deeply on how ruthless the media can be at times, and how they can make or break someone's career. Hitoribotchi no Haburashi is also one of the BEST songs I've heard.

Majo no jouken 1999 · TBS

They say it's wrong... and yet you know it's right

10 / 10

6 Jan 2004

Best drama I've watched, surpassing even GTO. I have never felt so attached to the main characters of the drama like this before... I loved every single minute of it. And the ending, there's so many ways to interpret it... I hope it's a happy one though... I love Hikaru's willingness to be bullied in school just for Michi. I love Michi's willingness to be ridiculed by society just for Hikaru. I love their undevoted love to each other, trying to be recognised as a couple despite the age and social status barrier. I love Majo no Jouken.
