I didn't find the first episode to be too melodramatic but I felt various moments got dragged out too much. At 90 minutes, they probably could have shortened it. The subplot with Jin's girlfriend is new, but otherwise quite close to the original manga.

It was quite good but some of the modern music didn't fit with the Edo era setting, and it seemed too clean in the streets. Toda Naho was great in her very small role, but overall I felt the acting was not that special.

Watched episode 2 today. Having read the manga, the drama suffers in comparison naturally. They are staying quite close to the manga. At the rate this is going, they can't get much story in before the end. Nakatani Miki hardly appeared in this episode, probably going to be episode 4 or 5 before they get to her character's part of the story.

I got the feeling they are trying to create more conflict out of the situations... Hopefully not too much of that in the following episodes.

I was thinking more like E.T. or that baby from 2001: Space Odyssey.

For some reason I am having problem getting the subs. I have successfully d/l the first three episodes of the video but I cannot even d/l the subs at all. Never had this problem before. I am trying every which way but no luck. I am watching it anyway without subs as Takao Osawa was my first Japanese heart throb. I love this drama even without subs.
I tried d/l the subs and then when I tried to open it simply said that I already had this and did I want to cancel or override the file. Not making any sense for me. I am not trying to put the subs srt onto the video but just trying to get the sub into a folder. Weird. Sigh.

^ have you tried playing it with VLC? I always resort to VLC since I can pick out the subs manually from a different folder.

If all else fails there's always streaming sites. I hate dramacrazy for stealing subs but that site is convenient.

What if you click Yes? or rename it? or put it in a different folder?

I uploaded them somewhere else so hopefully no problem anymore.

The little boy in the first two episodes steals my attention; and he cries like a running tap.

Quite a good weekend drama. A feel good drama to drive my Sunday blues away.

Ew, I agree. I couldn't watch majority of episode 2 because of it. Sad
