Mark,
In "Under One Roof" Eguchi's character starts to work once you realize he's playing the character as a big dumb loveable jock.
Because he's a skinny little leading man the character didn't seem to fit him. But once I realized that that's what he was playing the character stopped being so jarring.
Anyway. I really came to like the show a lot after seeing a couple of episodes. Both seasons are on my all times favorites list. It's not great, sophisticated drama, but you do (well I did) get very attached to the characters. _________________ Manga is to Literature

Up thru epi 4 and you're right, he's just a big well-intentioned goof. But it took me forever to place gravel-throated Rikako. She played the truck driving mom in GTO.

Nobody really likes him. But he is not a main character. He just pops in for a few episodes then disappears for a while. You have a ways to go before you meet the really interesting group. That's what I was warning you about... it's a little slow in the beginning.

Keisho comes and goes, like Ralph said. He does warm up to you later, but the whole thing with Goya Man really gets annoying where Keisho is involved.
Goya Man himself is quite charming, I find.
Started the second season. Brings back such great memories!

Hmmmm wait do you feel like watching? Something light and fluffy, or something serious? I'd match Atsu-Hime with something light and funny myself.
