I told my wife that the remake didn't sound good, and that the original would be much better. And this after not seeing the J Lo version. Glad my intuition was right.

It was a lot better than being forced to watch Richard Gere prance around with Jennifer Lopez.
....
Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez don't even go well in the same sentence together, who could even fathom making a script for the two to play in?
In other news, has anyone else seen the flood of teeny bop movies lately from Japan? They're mainly manga turned silver screen.
I saw "DEEP LOVE::AYU no monogatari" and I think that was just a director's perverted way to get girls to wear short school uniforms and act like whores while under the pretense of recreating a manga/book. 2 hours of my life just.......gone.
American cinema isn't that far behind with all ofthe remakes they're doing...
We all knew American cinema was consumed past the expiration date when movies like "Maid in Manhattan" and "White Chicks" had people actually paying in droves to see them. Hahahaha.

Groan.
Thank God for DVDs... I'll take any movie from the 30's to the 70's over most of the dreck that they're releasing nowadays...

I'm glad I saw it before it got pulled from the theaters.

I wouldn't put all American cinema out for the count just yet...Sin City is coming out Friday...that looks like one of the most visually inventive movies for a long time...based on the Frank Miller comix.... _________________

Well...I don't think it's over the top...it just looks incredibly faithful to the comics...of course, I've been a fan of them, so I might be biased. I never really liked Kill Bill that much.
It's like Japanese movies...I know there are bad ones out there, but it's hard for me to dislike some of them that are really cheesy.... _________________

I'm sort of a fan of Miller's too: I really liked his takes on Batman (The Dark Knight) and Daredevil.. I just have reseervations, considering the amount of star power (Willis, Del Toro, etc.) involved...

Yup. Hollywood cinema sucks.
In fact, over the last couple of years I can't think of a single Hollywood movie that I've enjoyed. Except maybe, The Bourne Supremacy.
That was a good one. That, and of course, The Last Samurai.
But that's it. The Bourne Supremacy, and the Last Samurai.
And Seabiscuit.
Just those three. The Bourne Supremacy, and The Last Samurai, and Seabiscuit, and The Matrix.
No, that's four.
And Kill Bill Vol. 1. I really liked that one.
So that's four.. no five!
The Bourne Supremacy, the Last Samurai, Seabiscuit, The Matrix, Kill Bill Vol.1, and I have to be honest, I really kind of enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean. And Shrek. And Fahrenheit 9/11. And Big Fish.
But that's definately it. Except for the Trilogy of the Rings.
And the Prophecy. Jeez, I loved The Prophecy. That one shot straight into my all time top ten list.
And Fargo. And Leaving Las Vegas. And Pulp Fiction. And... Noooone expects the Spanish Inquisition. _________________
