looks like what i feared the most has happened. I tried the maxiblast & powermax and the pcinspector and i cant get any of the data anymore. Even attaching it to my PCI ATA controller. It seems like my 120gb maxtor had the size limiter jumper ON but i did not put the jumper in there. Anyway, i think i should start shopping around for a WD. _________________

HOLY SHxt!!!! I spoke to soon. I tried pcinspector one last time and this time using the 'Find lost Data' option instead o fthe 'Find lost drive' and i can see my maxtor's direcotry structure. It cant repair it but it seems to allow me to copy the data to another drive. Now, I need to copy each directory one by one and backit up. I still cant use the 120gb as it is though, BIOS and XP is telling me its 32GB so I still need to have it replaced. But atleast, it looks like i can get my data back. whewwww!!!! EDIT: hmm, I can only get parts of the data, there are files i cant copy as well. oh well, better than nothing. Guys & Gals, if you ever have the same problem, check this software out. Sorry to hear about what happened. I know EXACTLY how you feel cuz my HDD died about 2 years ago and had about 20GB of JPOP. Bang Head

Well, since you have nothing left to lose, why not try reformatting the ENTIRE hard drive by deleting all of the data that was on there; assuming that you've already backed it up. That's probably why it still reads it as a 32GB clip instead of a 120GB hard drive. Put the jumpers on the right spot and you'll be good to go. Maybe. Beaten
