u know that bruce lee movie with kareen abdul Jabar, the one where he has on a yellow suit and he looks extra sexy?? well its wierd how in the episode on cowboy bebeop called "stray dog strut" the bad guy "hakiem" looks alot like kareem abdul jabar in that movie with bruce lee. he is almost a giant and has the same body type and hair style as jabar. its wierd when there are occasional black characters in anime's they look like giant jerks. well hakiem looked kinda sexy but all the others look so wierd. regular black ppl dont look or act like that. ..whas up with that?

Well, anime characters tend to be carictures, kinda stereotyped. But, it may not be an accident that Hakim reminded you of that. You can see that there's homages to Bruce Lee in Spike's character, not to mention that he also reminds a lot of Lupan/Rupan.

There's just so much out there now! Don't know how it is in Malaysia, but US is seeing lots now. Really hard to recommend without knowing more about your tastes. You mentioned liking Love Hina. Then others have recommended Ai Yori Aoshi & I really liked it. Second season coming out now, yeay!
Ghibli/Miyazaki works are all masterpieces, but of course people have varying tastes. I recognize the work that went into Mononoke Hime (Princess), but I didn't care all that much for it. Totoro is an ealier work, and I think one of the classics.
More recent stuff I've watched is fresher in my mind so I can give some opinions. One of best recent things I've seen, but not yet commercially available in u.S., Gunslinger Girl if you like espionage, gunplay, and phsychological drama. Got me teary eyed too.
Full Metal Panic I enjoyed, but it doesn't rank as great with me. Mecha (giant robot) show with some school drama and comedy. FMP Fumoffu, the sequel, is great fun! It makes up for the lack of the school humor stuff that got lost at the end of the first season. I've gotten halfway through Gunparade March in which the mecha and school situation is more integrated and I like it. So far its less about the fighting than it is about how it is effecting the lives of these Japanese high school kids that have to fight it.
FLCL I really liked, but it's kinda off-beat so may not appeal to everyone.
Someone mentioned Naiea Under 7, and though I liked it, it's another that many may not like. It can be a little slow and leave you wondering. Haibane Renmei from same creator as this and Lain I also really enjoyed, but again another that is really slow and mellow and I can see not everyone liking.
Evangelion everyone talks about, but this one gets really weird and trying to play with your brain at the end.
Somedays Dreamers I really enjoyed, kinda like a more grown up and modern day Kiki's Delivery Service.
For naughty but not porn stuff, Golden Boy is hilarious, as is the short episode collection of Colorful. Not commercially available in U.S. is Ebichu which I found also hilarious & in this category, and flirted pretty close to the line for what could be aired in Japan.
For the off-the-wall comedy stuff, but might miss a lot of jokes if not familiar with Japanese and/or anime culture there's Excel Saga, the sorta but not really sequel Puni Puni Poemi, Azumanga Diao, Digi Charat.
I liked Ninja Scroll and if you liked it, the TV series you'll prob like. Violence and funky supervillians and ninja/samurai action. Others mentioned Rurouni Kenshin. i've only seen the OAVs and I can say for more realistic samurai show it is good.

There's really so much out there that hasn't been mentioned by me or others yet!

I recently watched:
Full Metal Panic Fumoffou
Ajimu Kaigan Monogatari OVA

The first is lighthearted, hilarious anime. If u want a good laugh I recommend u watched this

As the 2nd one. It's a drama, love drama bout a boy & girl.
And u know what? The song in this anime is hawaian theme.
Definitely a good one.

It's....soooooo classic. But I have admit that anime really good.

yeah.. but surprisingly the top list differ from here and japan... like in japan i asked some ppl.. about cowboy bebop AND NO ONE KNEW ABOUT IT... so i described it to them .. and they said.. "oh its like Lupin III"... i was like OMG... and in here everyone and their grandmother knows what cowboy bebop is... but that list is pretty old...

My fav FF is FFVI.
The story really intense & full of plot twist.

But for graphics I go to FFX-2. He3x...lot's of eyecandy there hehe

FF7 was definately the first to really step it up in terms of graphics and storyline. i like it for all the reasons stated earlier. i'm also very fond of FFX for the storyline, graphics, and notably the soundtrack. the opening piano theme is very touching. i know this is not in the pole, but i think chrono trigger is also one of the greats
