Thanks. Glad to see that is is serving some sort of purpose. :) I'm sorry that I had to delete all of the reply posts from when I first created the thread. After the total update, I found the reply posts to be sort of ƒWƒƒƒ} (in the way) to what the topic was intended for.@

Mixxdreamer wrote:i think its a great idea to have bday announcements for users, but just dont reveal the age i guess.. but of course if anybody doesnt like it, im fine with it, the artists part is good too, but not necessarily. =T
Yeah, for users, the revealation of age isn't necessary but as far as the artists go, by all means I think it's a great idea! :D

I think it should be just the artistes b-days... I could care less about user's b-days.... :beaten:

Come to think of it, we do have many dudes putting 1 Jan as their birthday. Prepare to see a list of bogus birthdays on that day. ;P

Ok, I'll be doing the following on the birthday issue:

- Artistes' birthdays today, revealing the age (not an issue to reveal since you just have to click on the link to see their exact birthday)

- Users' birthday announcements, only reveals that the user is having his/her birthday on that day. I *may* add a new field in the profile page to opt out of this thing, as we may see people not wanting to be in that list.

Date/time is based on the user's local time (there is a local time setting in your profile page).

Will put those in a new section before or after the "Who is Online" section in the main page.

All fine and dandy with this arrangement?

If that's the case, all the more reason to leave out user's birthdays and concentrate on the artistes... ;)

What?? One of my ideas was actually good?? I must be in Bizarro World. :hehe:

Ok, its now right under the who is online section.

I haven't added in the config part to opt out yet.

Looks ok so far?

Awesome. :applaud: You know, I don't know half of those users there. So I think it should only contain the artistes. At least we have an idea of who they are.

I'll bet most of 'em have near-zero posts, too... :(

We've alot of users who don't post, but frequent the board often. They keep their accounts for the sake of writing reviews, and managing their list of dramas, as well as voting for the dramas and artistes. Anyway, purging out users doesn't help alot actually -- the main slowdowns in the site are due to the growing posts and threads.

This is more so because JDorama.com started out without a forum. It consisted only of the database of dramas and artistes. :yippee:
25 Apr 2005, 07:55 #296
ahh ok, but most of em doesnt really have any drama list or reviews in their profile but oh well, are you planning on re-designing the layout in the future? im all like interviewing you :beaten:

Hey, happy birthday dochira! Was that suggestion by any chance related to the proximity to your birthday? :metaldevil:

Honestly, it was a coincidence. :hehe: I swear. I knew that Tsuruta Mayu shared a birthday with me, but I wasn't sure if there were others. But the real reason behind my suggestion was the discovery that Katase Nana and Uchiyama Rina had the same birthdate. That got me wondering how many artistes share birthdays. And it would be cool finding out the birthdays of each day.

More nitpicking: could we alphabetize the names for users and artistes?
25 Apr 2005, 14:08 #300
I've thought of that. Either by alphabetical order or by number of posts in descending order, so bmwracer's name will be the first on his birthday.

Actually its just for the sake of spotting the more active users first.. or is alphabetical better?
