When you wearing the kimono, there with be two pieces left and right, plus a belt like rope for tightening the outfit. It is very important that you have the left side over the right side before tightening the outfit. If you manage to do it opposite, the locals would think youfre a walking ghost. That is because only buried ones wear their kimono right side over left side.
i hardly think that they'll think you're a ghost. that's insulting! baka ja nai yo!

wow that is expensive, just go on the shinkasen...
i would have gone to Osaka, but didn't have much time, so we just went to Kyoto only. I wasn't planning on going to the Aichi expo anyways, but heard from my pen pal that after 5pm is 2200 yen to go.
if it's true, 2200 is cheap indeed.. but don't forget the park closes at 9pm. You'll have 4 hours, but they advice you to leave Aichi before 8 o'clock, because it will be more busy than an average rush hour in the expo shuttles. So you have to see everything in only 3 hours... also you have to wait in lines, probably in the (late) afternoon it will have at least 20 minutes for every building, also the smaller ones. And if you want to see a big thing, count on at least 45 minutes. (But as I told you I waited 1.5 hour to see the Japan building, it was at 4.30).
So, if you - knowing all this - still want to go then sure... it's only 2200 yen. Judge yourself... _________________

i won't be able to go, since i already been to Japan and had no desire to go, and didn't have time. My pen pal from Nagoya went, and she told me about it. She thought it was ok.

Well, here goes... some pics of japan:
Above:
During the summercamp we all went to a local festival and everybody got to wear yuukata's It was very nice! I never saw so many people dressed up like that ^^ I mean, suits yeah, but that's not nearly as impressive as yuukata's, I think. And cute girls look even cuter :p
When you go to Japan, be sure to visit a Japanese summer festival! And participate!! -> By which I mean, dance the 'bon-odori' = festival dance!
Here someother thing we did in the camp, with local people and some disabled children. What you see in the picture are two "slides" made of bamboo (which we made ourselves that morning) with water running through them. When the party starts everybody will stand alongside the 'rivers' and try to catch the noodles (with chopsticks ofcourse) that somebody is putting in at the top. It floats quite fast, so it's a challenge And ofcourse you should try to catch the special pink noodles.. they are very rare This game is called "Nagashi soumen"@[f] which means "running/floating noodles". Its much fun, even when you're not a kid anymore
Oh and- you eat them by using your own cup (made of bamboo) of soysauce _________________

It's hard to judge, I think one in 3 girls are pretty from anywhere. I wouldn't go to Okinawa anyway, too many americans. -_- _________________

Just in case anyone was wondering (I was) AU$25K is a little over US$19K.
In terms of the university, it all depends on where you want to settle in for two semesters. Looking at the list, you can choose one from northern Japan (Hokkaido U) to southern Japan (Okinawa). Obviously if you like urban living, I would choose one in Yokohama, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. But it's all up to you. Good luck.

what's up. 'fraid of some competition? hahaha (JK). i know us americans can act quite ugly overseas. but one shouldn't deny oneself of the cool things in okinawa. i guess it really is what one is looking for overseas. for me, i'd pick okinawa over any place in mainland japan. I could go on and on, but i digress. I guess i'll have to wait for my trip again next yr!

i wouldn't mind visiting Okinawa one day, or Hokkaido, but it is ALL TOKYO where i want to be at, that is where the underground food markets are at!, that is where AKIBA is at, for the Otaku like me!, and all the hot j-girls are at, and other parts of Japan.
but all in all, Japan is the place to go.

depends on how long you are planning to visit Japan, one week is barely enough time, to take it all in. But seeing Kyoto and Tokyo, you will get some good sights, and the j-girls...
