yes, i just went to check the website too, fans from all over the world is writing in!! i'm so happy. this will let them know that they are appreciated by us. you could actually write in twice or thrice as long as u change your ip address or name i suppose. i know i wrote in twice, once as arwenna and another time by another nick. just to test if it works. so, fy-chan, you could try.
as for the drama, they beat the taiwanese version hands down and tied behind their back! i loved the scene where Tsukasa was beating up the hustlers. it may not be as convincing as say a true martial art proponent but it's got 'streetfight' in it. i loved the corniness in certain scenes, it made me laugh so it was fun. hopefully it will continue to get better.
Regarding the length of this series, which is only 9 episodes, I have read on the net some quotes from a Japanese weekly about the complication behind the scene before this drama was started.
According to those posts, this series was chosen for this time frame (Friday 22:00) of TBS as a replacement of another drama ("Nodame Cantabile" with Okada Junichi as the lead actor,) which was cancelled due to a disagreement between the TBS producer and Johnny Kitagawa on the terms of contract, and another drama which was also turned down for some reason. So, it was a last minute decision, although the idea/plan might have been around since some time ago.
If this is true, it's understandable why they were so late in starting advertising the programme compared to other dramas. It's also easily assumed that the number of episodes was cut because however late they started shooting, the end of the 3-month cycle is predetermined.
Casting is said to have been very difficult, too, for the restriction of time. The choice of the lead actress is said to have been influenced by the talent agency to which both Inoue and Matsushima belong, as they owns the copyright to make this drama (though I have no evidence of this rumour).
If the production people took this job under such circumstances, I think they were courageous, whereas the original manga was very well-known and, furthermore, it was easily expected that they would have to face all the comparisons with other productions in the past, which actually are in progress.

interesting bit of news moku!
but i think that the casting crash is not with the 2 fem talents... i think the other 2 f4 other than jun shun are ze problem... no wonder i thought they seemed... wrong... ok, maybe gotta watch the rest of the show bef i comment on them.
is there any accurate source that actually states the show is 9 episode? seriously though, a drama that only screens 9 episode is pretty rare... and ESPECIALLY rare int his case since this series is so popular.
looking at the J-drama system it seems 11 episodes in a series is the norm, where 10 happens sometimes, and 9 and 12 rarely ever happens (especially 9).. so yeah anyone got any actualy webpage source to confirm this?

well thats showbusiness and hypocrisy for you...
exactly..don't take it as a personal attack..i won't mention it anymore on this thread...but it's something to think about...especially when somebody mentions how "powerful" somebody is.
more relevantly...on d-addicts.com...the first episode of Hana Yori Dango is available with English subs from an High Definition TV source from the good folks at SARS-Fansubs..
FINALLY!! i was able to watch the 1st ep with subs! wow! and i was especially HOOKED on Rui! gawd! Shun did so well!
..and i noticed that Jun's face imperfections showed. why was the lighting not so good when the camera focuses on him! hehehe..but still gotta love Jun!
my fave scene was the punch scene! hahaha!

this is what i've been waiting for! thanks tu_triky!
I don't really get the big deal about Oguri Shun, he's definitely not pretty enough to play the role of Hanazawa Rui. Anyway, I loved the first episode, can't wait for the next one... which I believe is TOMORROW!!
I guess maybe my opinion will change as the series progresses, since I felt the same way about MatsuJun before. I didn't see the big fuss. And I love Inoue Mao now!! She's great!!!

i dont think he/she meant by saying powerful as a perverted man, johnny owns a lot of popular boybands, but what do i know... what makes you say that though? cuz idk anything about johnny's.. and im not defending the guy, just curious. _________________

MixxDreamer you get what i mean...ok so maybe i should of used the word influential. The guy can pull out a scheduled drama or an actor from an airing drama if he wants too. And he has the power to promote which boyband/idol he wants and make them the hottest thing...
frappu I kinda agree with u with the Orugi Shun not being that "delicate/flowery' pretty sense...but i still think he did a great job...he acts Rui's coldness very well....
Anyway...HYD ep 2 is airing soon... cant wait to see... *spoiler* the whole makeover thing i love to see makino's reaction...and will she say her corny line?* did i mention i actually quite like this actress...think she doing a good job at the mo...
i went to check the fan messages on the official website...its nice to know that there's more overseas fans supporting the drama...
