Just a word of advice...since your asking about several different dramas...why don't you avail yourself of the drama index on the jdorama.com home page...it has the dramas indexed by year and then by season....you can review the possibilities, read the summaries, and see if the dramas in the database ring any bells.

while I was in Japan I saw this drama which looked interesting to me.
In the drama it has a love triangle between the mother, daughter and a guy (who looks to be half Japanese and half Caucasian), I don't know the names of any actors but I think I might be able to tell if he was in the series if I saw a picture of him.
Hmmm what else
There is a man with glasses, he seems kind of evil and in his office he has a huge picture of 2 eyes that can change colours, in this episode the eyes were mostly red.

That is all I can remember about the 1 eps I saw.

The date that I saw it was Oct 8 2005, I cant remember the time but it was before these 2 dramas on the same channel, "Designer" and after that show was "Cheap Love."

Also if you can give me a link as to where I can buy the DVDs that would be most appreciated

Hey guys, I really hope to find the name of this drama so if you know the title of the drama, please reply!

Okay the story has this girl where she's hearing impaired and she has this male friend who tries patiently to communicate with her. I remember once when they went out with this group of friends and sat under the night sky or something? The words "gold coins" suddenly come to my mind. I don't know why. Maybe they spoke something about that? Anyway, I'm not sure but it is something like that! Beaten Sweat

Does anyone know the name of the j-drama that revolved around the life of the chef who invented Tonkatsu? I don't know the name of the stars but it aired sometime between 1982 and 1985 in San Diego while I was there for school. The main character was suppossedly the 1st japanese national ever admitted to some famous french chef school and the drama chronicled his struggle to adapt to the foreign country, language, and prejudices of the staff at the school. It also detailed his affair with a french prostitute and his personal life. As I recall the show's final episode revealed the fact that this guy was the inventor of Tonkatsu.

Anybody know where I can get it w/ English subs? Thank's a lot. I'e been waiting for 20 years to find this show!! Fingers crossed

Posted: Mon Nov 14, 2005 5:50 pm Post subject: Another puzzler from 20 years ago

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 1982-1985 I was attending school in San Diego and watched the tail end of a J-drama that dealt with the life of a mistress. Her boyfriend and she were both in their 40s or 50s . He had a wife who was dying of some terminal illness and lived at a hospital or care home. Wife was aware of the husband's mistress (if I recall correctly) and silently tolerated it because she felt he needed a better companion. The mistress was also aware of the wife and always was plagued by the thought that she was hurting the wife's feelings. Husband was a businees man and had the financial wherewithal to support the mistress comfortably. In the end (again if my memory serves) the wife dies and the mistress upon learning of the death leaves the husband/boyfriend so as not to dishonor the deceased wife. This was a very sad and poignant (sp?) series that I am hoping someone can identify for me.

I would be willing to buy a copy of this as long as it has english subtitles. I've been looking for this for 20 years!! Please help!!!

Thank you!!!! Fingers crossed

Sounds like "Tadashii Renai No Susume" that just finished airing on TBS. It starred Wentz Eiji (who is 1/2 Japanese).

Hi everyone! It's been years since I saw this on tv, but I was wondering if someone could help.

Althought I've done a general search for it here and on google, I haven't found it. I know the title in English was "The Facilitators" but I haven't come across it anywhere yet. The story is about a team of people who help people in debt or trouble. They usually work at night (dressed in black) and totally clear any evidence of that person's existence so that he/she can start over. It was a really good show with a bit of comedy and good drama mixed into it. I don't recall any of the actors' names, because it's been so long. But, I do remember that one of the female team members (I think she worked sort of as an operator) had crazy hair...almost like Pippy Longstocking (if you catch my drift).

Does anyone recognize this drama?

Thanks everyone!

I sure do. The actress you speak of is Shinohara Tomoe, and the drama is Flight by Night. It aired in NorCal in the late 90s, I believe.

Isn't Meteor Garden a Taiwanese drama? Head Scratch I think that would explain why it doesn't appear on this Japanese Drama site. And Hana Yori Dango is the Japanese adaptation of the that drama.

Hana Yori Dango AND Meteor Garden are actually adaptations of a Japanese manga by the name of Hana Yori Danago

It could be Hana Yori Dingo. A bittersweet tale of the Australian outback, A Girl and Her Dog, as it were.
