Oooh the thread is dead (for this time being :hehe:)

Though anyway, attending a 2-days wedding course over here (compulsory for those who wants to get married). Actually it was more like accompanying my best friend who planned to get married in June and since I am free, what the heck? I signed up for it too. Surprisingly as I signed the registration form, nearly all of the attendance was born in '84, which made me feel like an old maid  and when they were asking about wedding plans and all that, I know that I am the only single person in the crowd

i guess it seems like you have the words "single" written on your forehead, huh?

Nah, just happened that all of them were comparing wedding plan notes with each other, showing off invitation cards and all that. I stayed at the background but then again they were all 'too friendly' and included me in the conversation

went to a wedding over the weekend.

it was his cousin's wedding.

it's really funny to go to a wedding where people have no clue that you're getting married soon.. :D

his family doesn't know a thing.

they're kind of conservative.

i'm actually signing a prenup just in case his parents find out.

your usage of the word "conservative" appears to be a euphemism

i suppose you are only protecting yourself in this case...which is understandable.

it would be much easier if they accepted you, knew about the whole thing, and liked you...it would take the pressure off of you...
how old are you again? wow, marriage already...

you sure move fast.... :bonk:

I'm still recovering from monday: my best friend got married. damn I hate chinese weddings. especially those banquets. 10% are your own friends, 90% are your parents' friends n family you don't even know.

yup, when i watched the video from my sisters wedding, the average age was at least 50... just 4 of 20 tables were people under 30
1 was my table, two were my sisters, the other was for the kids. The old people kept coming over to our tables and giving us their dishes because, you know, older people dont eat much.

Yeah, that's pretty normal with chinese weddings, but this one was a bit extreme: out of 40 tables, only 2-3 tables were his own friends. Even less than 10%. I've worked my ass off (and got pretty drunk too - cos they keep pouring you cognac <- really oldfashioned, most people moved on to wine and champagne by now) :beaten:

and guess what, next week I have another wedding :ashamed: another reason I really hate those chinese banguets is and the 10 course meal is always the SAME FOOD and it never changes, be it today, 10 years ago, the food is the same, and it will be in 2020. even more ripoff is when you can't attend and you got invited you still need to pay/red envelope.

never saw people giving away food to another table though (it would look rude and not classy): most of the time people rush for the food, no joke. paid good money for it, and need to wait hours before it starts: i don't blame them :hehe:
