i still think she has a chance at redemption from this.....should i say... bleh of a performance, not her fault, but the script and role...she did good in Engine, and she is young enough to bounce back and do well again.

Is it me, or have the Japanese adopted Western eating disorders along with our bad eating habits? I'm sure I've seen a couple dramas where some rail-thin girl is claiming to be on a diet, or is told to go on a diet. I hope they don't end up like Americans with over 30% obesity rate or whatever it is these days.

when i went to japan i don't even recall seeing overweight women, it was that rare of sight...must be overdoing it on the diet tip...it wasn't like erika toda was fat to begin with?!

i doubt it...food in japan is too expensive...moreover, most ppl in japan don't drive...they have to walk and take the train everywhere.

when i went to Japan, I rarely saw a fat person, maybe a few times here and there, but mostly, the J-girls were slim, and in shape. With the food selection, with the exceptional occassional fast food place, most food available is probably more healthier than what we have here...

yea, food can be costly as Tu says, but going to the convenience store can be a budget way to go with the food, but not every day...lol

and in Tokyo atleast, people walk everywhere, probably why they are so slim, and you have to walk to get where you need to go in Japan.

yeah even the conbeni food that maybe cheap is usually in smaller portions than we're using to seeing...i don't think the 7Eleven's in Japan have Super Big Gulps and 20lb Hot dogs like the one's here to satisfy the greasy mouths of our youth.

exactly....
everything they have is in moderation, and less fat, grease, unlike american food....
and honestly, i don't care for our convenience stores here as i do for Japan...

i like the convenience stores here because they are so clean and have products with amazing packaging....moreover they have such a wide variety of foods unlike the japanese ones.

This one is pretty funny and interesting. From the fisrt episode, I've learned a new Japanese sentanse, "ς񂾂! " (urosaindayo, shi ne). Beaten

Gal Circle is one of the worst dramas I've seen in a long time. Terrible acting.

lol i just signed up for this board after googling for 'gal circle' and coming across this thread. why? because quite frankly, i LOVE THIS SHOW! i can't get enough of it!

hahahah. not being sarcastic here. i've been downloading/watching dramas for the better part of the last two years, and i have to say that i rarely ever finish them. except for gal circle. all you naysayers out there think what you want, but i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this show is brilliant.

yes it's ridiculous. sure the characters are paper thin. (i'm a writer too ^^) but for 11 hours of my life, it's a thoroughly entertaining clusterf*ck of pop randomness that is actually very tightly written and well thought out.

i think to appreciate it, you have to take it for what it is - a big absurdist farce that laughs at japanese peoples' stereotypes of the west and of themselves and draws parallels between say, native americans and frickin' shibuya gal tribes.

i like the episodic format, repetitive and blatantly obvious plot devices (like the hole in the ground) and how there is no big, heavy-handed story arc to get dragged into but rather some flimsy, completely disposable nonsense about a mysterious 'Imoko' that ties it all together.

i like the little goofy parables that each episode tries to "teach" - they have surprising heart and are as much a jab at japan's fascination with ethnic cultures and foreign "wisdom" as they are little mini (but true) life lessons for the junior high school demographic.

in short, gal circle is a freakin' great show. all the dumbness is intentional. like osaka noise punk, it's not for everyone, but it's definitely a little bit ahead of its time.

arigato daichi! arigatou taiyo! inochi o arigigato! itadakimasu!

gal circle is a great drama and very entertaining. The plot is ridiculus but is well-structured. The acting may seem overdone, but that makes it even more fun to watch. I like this drama after watching the first 2 eps and will continue to watch the rest episodes. Naughty

btw, I finished eps2. There're 2 girls in this eps worth mention.

Iwasa Mayuko (J, rika-chan). With her face covered in dark brown makeup, I can hardly recognize her. hehe

Natsumi Nishida (, ran-chan) She looks cute even without those special makeups. She is naturally cute. hehe
