Too bad it doesn't smell like chocolate in Belgium.
Glad to know people are using deodorant in Japan. I've crossed path with a few "I pour 2 gallons of cheap perfume on myself every morning to mask my foul smell" guys this week. _________________

There have been several women here who do that to cover up the smell of the cigarettes that they smoke...

Flies, gnats, and mosquitoes get too close and die on contact with the radioactive cloud.

so true though! After six month in Japan, everytime taking the metro here in Brussels, I can smell the difference and I wish I was back in Nagoya.
Hi EstherM! Nice to meet you. You lived in Japan for 6 months? Lucky lady! I hope you have time to share some of your experiences in Japan with us. I would love to hear them.

I would love to smell a hint of chocolate in the subways.
I don't think that the cheap overdosing of cologne or perfume should be a problem in Japan. They are not big on wearing strong fragrances. In fact some expensive perfume is bought there strictly to display the bottle or flacon at home.

Oh No! That would be like the smell of a perfumed ashtray! What a waste of scent.

Does it mean they don't get attacked and sprayed whenever they enter a department store too? _________________

I was in a few Department stores in Tokyo, I don't remember seeing any demo perfume sprayers while I was there. That might be too rude a task for the Japanese.

HUH, sprayed by those demo perfume guys?
No way, I doubt someone would do that (not even on the states they do this)
If someone sprays me out of no where my first reaction is to probably punch them... Is just like a defense mechanism... _________________

hehe, well they don't spray it into your eyes, but they a quite aggressive. They're like predator, don't make eye contact or they'll jump at you. _________________

Do you guys know how is the weather on May (around the 20 and on)?
I can be fully prepared and have things things ready for May (not to mention I will have way more money stashed by that time, and since I start Japanese classes I will also have a slight positive there)
Edit: It appears the weather on May is pretty dam good, is a weather where all you have to wear is long sleeves and maybe a jacket at most correct? Let me know, cause that sounds like an ideal weather to travel.
You're probably better off going in May, weather shouldn't be too bad. I watching FCI News right now, looks like the typhoons are starting to role in already. Seems kind of early to me.
doing okay. glad to see you are enjoying your trip immensely. i'm sure it's great to be back in Japan experiencing all the sights, smells, sounds, etc.
have fun!
Tu, Enna,
greetings from Kyoto...
it has been raining virtually all day long, gotta love the rainy season, ne...
anyhow, it has been a full 12 hours of tours, actually the last part wasn't part of the tour..
morning tour consisted of Nijo Castle, Golden Pavillion, and Imperial Palace. The afternoon tour was of Kyomizu temple, and a few other temples. The ancient Japan views of Kyoto are truly breath taking, despite the wet rainy weather. I took over 600 pictures of my trip and hope to upload and post some to add to the thread.
the evening consisted of a long walk thru the Gion District, and my family and i caught a theatre show at the Gion Corner in the Kyoto Gion District, which i highly recommend, for an hour show that depicts several different mini-shows including a dancing Maiko on stage, where you can take photos with your camera during the performance. The show is 2800 yen, and the show starts at 7pm, and another show i believe at 8pm. Also, i managed to take a decent photo of a Maiko roaming the streets, but it was of her backside, since she was walking out to a tea house, briskly walking the wet streets of the Gion District.
