Welcome to the thread, Keps-chan Smile

TR has a boss called "Amanda"? Doesn't sound very threatening!

The PS2 we've now got means I can now play a LOT of titles i've always wanted to play! So many good RPG's for the PS2 Smile

Thanks, AD! Dancing

No, Amanda is scary. You see...she ain't exactly human...*shivers theatrically*.
Ooh, RPGs....I'm scared of them. Having to control more than one character I think I would get confused and angry. Or both.

I'm on St. Francis Folly right now and I have been on that stage since, um, at least 4 months now. Sweat It's just that I have no time to play it. Maybe I should make time to finish it. And I *HATE* the way the saves are. I wish they could go back to the original TR saves. That way if you screw up, you can go back to the beginning of the level and not start the whole game over again if the save is bad.

And as for TR Legend, I haven't gotten that. I read that it was a really short game and easy because it was so linear. Is it good though? I've seen mixed reviews, so I'm not sure if I want to get it if it's going to be sitting around for a while.

Ohh, St Francis Folly was where I messed up big time. Have you got to the part in the huge area with the water, where you have to get two crates on to switches on the floor? I got down to the bottom of that area - without crates! - then I had no way of getting back up. Bang Head
Huh, so TR saves are known to be awful? I had no idea others had these problems. The only level I could start again from was Peru - waaaay back. I would rather just start from the beginning at some future time.

TR Legend - well, it seemed quite long to me, but then I'm no gaming expert. I don't know what linear means in this context *shamed*
I've really enjoyed it, although I've still got to beat Amanda. I'm leaving it for a while (my teeth need to recover first).

TR: Legend is a fun, quick game. It's fairly easy, although a few of the bosses were challenging. Amanda was quite an irritating boss. Took several tries to get the timing, etc, right. But it is very short; I managed to finish it in 12 hours (not in one sitting). My averge game, usually RPGs, generally take me over 60 hours.

I could have sworn that TR: Anniverary allowed you to restart a level, but I could be wrong. The thing that I hated about TR:A was that on some levels there are some insane jumps to be made. But if you missed, you had to go do 10 jumps to get to the one you died on, only to die again, and retry... I wish the game could put you at right before the fatal jump. There was one jump, I think it was in St. Frances Folly, that took me 1 hour to trying and retrying, and cussing.

Madoka - yes, you can restart levels in TR Anniversary, but for me it would only let me replay from a level I'd long passed. It wouldn't let me just restart the level I was stuck on. bleh
Oh, you are so right about the jumps! I got so so angry - I'm sure I was cussing too, lol. Mr Green
Is the jump you mean the one where Lara has to do a wall run, then jump backwards onto a pillar, in the Damocles room with all the swords?
That one was terrible...took me absolutely ages to get right. The camara suddenly swinging around didn't help either.

Was the only multiplayer game you had Marvel: Ultimate Alliance? It'll be interesting to see how you progress through Oblivion though. The world is so detailed you could probably write a travelogue of your adventures.

I can't! I just played for two hours and I'm still stuck in that Myserious place. I'm on floor 6 now and I've only found 3 soul shards. I need to find 7. Doh!

Thankyou ^^, but what's the arcade version?

The arcade is like the pro, minus a few things.
No hard drive (has a 256mb memory card instead)
No headset
No Network Cable
No HD video cable (only has RCA)

Also, you can't play the old Xbox games on it, because they need the harddrive. All the parts can be purchase later, but you'll probably spend more than $200. IIRC the hard drive was around $180 for the 120GB.

IMHO, unless you're really short on cash, don't buy the arcade.

That is the very jump! I could never tell when to jump as I could not tell where I was. When I finally did it, I had no idea what I had done differently that time.

I definately do much better with turn-based RPGs.

That is EXACTLY how it was for me too! I don't know what it was that made the jump work in the end - I'm just glad it did.

Sorry to sound stupid, but what exactly does "turn-based" mean? I've seen the term a lot, used to describe games, but I don't understand. Bow

...does this picture bring you out in a cold sweat..? Mr Green

With turn-based RPGs, the characters (and opponents) take turns to inflict damage (by magic, weapons etc) on their opponents. You could also use your turn to heal yourself or a member of your party etc.

Final Fantasy games are an example of this type Smile

Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me. I really had no idea. Bonk

Oh...I bought Final Fantasy XII - but resold it because it was too complicated for me to work out how to play properly.
I probably shouldn't admit that, but nevermind. hehe
